Jay took the opportunity to address something that had been on his mind for some time.
"My grandfather has been undergoing Bloodline metamorphosis for the past ten days. How long will it take to complete?"
Pletzion appeared genuinely surprised. "He's undergoing metamorphosis right after awakening the ORPHEUS Bloodline? Your grandfather must have an exceptionally high affinity with that Bloodline. Since he began the process with minimal stats, it could take another ten to twenty days before it completes. But when it does, he might emerge as strong as your current self—or perhaps even stronger."
Jay was momentarily stunned by the revelation. The thought that his grandfather could become that powerful simply through Bloodline metamorphosis was unexpected. Yet, the initial surprise quickly gave way to hopeful joy at the thought of his grandfather waking up and reuniting with their family.
Noticing Jay's astonishment, Pletzion elaborated further, shedding light on the true nature of the ORPHEUS Bloodline.
"As one of the most powerful Bloodlines in the entire OMNOS, it's no surprise he would gain such strength. Even the most dominant Bloodlines within this Universe pale in comparison to the peak Bloodlines that span all of existence."
Hearing that, Jay's understanding of the ORPHEUS Bloodline's significance deepened. While he had always known it was extraordinary, this confirmation from the System itself solidified just how monumental it was.
With those words, Jay gained a vague understanding of the immense power of the ORPHEUS Bloodline. He then inquired about his predecessor—or rather, the Founding Ancestor of his yet-to-be-awakened Bloodline.
His thoughts then turned to something else that had been troubling him—words spoken by his predecessor, or rather, the Founding Ancestor of his yet-to-be-awakened Bloodline.
With a serious tone, Jay inquired, "Just what is the danger that is threatening the OMNOS from destruction?"The mention of this caused Pletzion's expression to shift, becoming noticeably more solemn. After a brief pause, the System responded.
"My standing within my Cybernetic Race isn't high enough to grant me access to such knowledge. All I know is that a calamity, terrifying enough to wipe out all life across the OMNOS, ravaged the universe a trillion years ago. The LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL and INDOMITABLE PRIMORDIAL sacrificed themselves to save everything, as only they had the strength to face it.
Yet, even with their unimaginable power, the calamity wasn't completely averted. According to my race forefather's calculations, this calamity will reappear in roughly 10 billion years."
As Jay heard those words, things began to fall into place. It confirmed that his predecessor hadn't been the sole savior of OMNOS—it had been a combined effort with the LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL.
But this realization offered little comfort. If beings as powerful as them could only postpone the Prehistric calamity through self-sacrifice, what could he possibly do that they couldn't?
And to make matters worse, he still hadn't located the successor of the LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL, whom ORPHEUS had stressed was essential to standing a chance against the impending calamity.
It all seemed like an insurmountable task, weighing him down with a crushing sense of impossibility. But Jay sighed, pulling himself together, and began to methodically analyze the overwhelming responsibility thrust upon him as the successor of the INDOMITABLE PRIMORDIAL.
The one thing he clung to was the vast time ahead—a full 10 billion years before the calamity's return. He had lived less than 25 years and had only been assimilated with the System for about 20 days.
In this brief period, he had grown immensely stronger, far beyond what many could achieve. But compared to those at Tier-10, he was little more than a speck of dust—insignificant in the grander scheme of things, let alone against a threat the PRIMORDIALS themselves couldn't defeat.
To entities like Pletzion, 10 billion years might feel like a fleeting moment, but to him, it was an incomprehensible stretch of time.
If he could truly live that long, he was confident he'd find a way to stop the calamity. And if he couldn't, then living for 10 billion years would still be enough to lead a fulfilling existence.
If the System had heard Jay's thoughts, it would have scoffed at how modest his ambitions were, considering he was the Holder of an ORIGIN CRUX.
Rather than burdening himself with the vast scale of the calamity, Jay set his focus on what he could achieve first: reaching Tier-10 and becoming the strongest in the universe. Only then could he set his sights on even greater goals.
He also held onto the belief that his predecessor must have left behind an inheritance along with knowledge vital to combating the calamity. But before dealing with that, he had to find the successor of the LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL.
When Jay asked about this successor, Pletzion provided a detailed response.
"Of the Eight Origin Cruxes, the one held by the LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL, KAIZER, was said to be the most powerful:║DE-LIMITER║. From what I've learned from the elders of my race, the LIMITLESS PRIMORDIAL left no direct bloodline descendants behind. All of them perished long ago, which makes it nearly impossible to predict how long it might take for the║DE-LIMITER║to choose another host."
Jay etched the name KAIZER into his mind. From his conversation with the System ten days ago, he had learned that KAIZER was the strongest PRIMORDIAL, even surpassing his predecessor, ORPHEUS, by a small margin.
The thought of such a figure having no living descendants was hard to fathom, leading Jay to suspect that their extinction might have been the work of the powerful enemy the Orpheus Clan head had warned him about.
If even the Orpheus Clan was on guard against this enemy, Jay could only imagine that other PRIMORDIALS might be involved as well.
His suspicions lingered on the FORBIDDEN PRIMORDIAL, EZIKEL, whose VOID SHACKLE Jay had noticed in the Achievement Store. Yet, Jay reasoned that EZIKEL must have perished in the prehistoric war since the Void Shackle was now listed as a purchasable item.
Curious to confirm his theory, Jay asked Pletzion for clarification. The System's response revealed something he hadn't considered.
"Whether it's the Origin Glaive or the Void Shackle, items related to the PRIMORDIALS are not visible to just anyone," Pletzion explained. "Even if someone accumulates enough Universe Points, they wouldn't be able to purchase them. You can see those items in the Achievement Store only because they once belonged to the INDOMITABLE PRIMORDIAL, and you are his successor."
Jay processed this revelation carefully. It wasn't just his Universe Points or achievements that granted him access to these powerful items—it was his connection to ORPHEUS, his predecessor.
Pletzion continued, and what it said next was unsettling. "EZIKEL was the trib%&^#!on for ORPHEUS, and the same app%#&s the other way around. If one su#%@&es, the o&#%r wouldn't—it was the will of the &%@##&%."
The System's words began to distort, as though a higher power was censoring it. The glitching disrupted its explanation, and Pletzion paused, its expression troubled—an unusual sight for such a composed entity.
"Seems like I can't reveal any more," Pletzion said with a sigh. "You'll learn the full truth once you reach Tier-10. For now, let's part ways—I've been summoned to meet my clan's forefather."
With that, Jay's consciousness was sent back to his body.
As Jay opened his eyes, he replayed the fragmented words in his mind. The reference to the lives of ORPHEUS and EZIKEL being interconnected, bound by some mysterious will, remained a vague mystery.
Jay couldn't comprehend what Pletzion had revealed that warranted the information to be restricted and elicited such a reaction from it.
The fact that Pletzion was seemingly reprimanded for revealing too much only deepened his curiosity. Yet, knowing he couldn't do anything about that now, Jay resolved to focus on what he could control.
He turned his attention to one of the three newly unlocked features, which was already causing a frenzy among the Alpha Chosen.
