“Dead?”, the leader of the newcomer group spoke, raising his eyebrow, “And you are…”1
“The one who killed him”, Wu Long nodded, not bothering to conceal it as they were already headed for a collision course over this whole situation anyway.
This, however, bought the attention of the one in the back of the group who was in the Essence Ignition Realm, as he sized Wu Long up with his gaze.
“Hah! Nonsense! He’s in 5th-level Essence Gathering Realm, has been for quite a while, and a Spear Master! A brat like you in Mortal Transc-…”, the leader of the group snorted with derision, still not able to hide concern as it was undeniable that both the weapon and the shields were here in the hands of some strangers.
“Well this is interesting”, the Essence Ignition Realm practitioner floated forward, cutting off the words of the group’s leader.
“Tsk, Li Weifang! How many times do I have to tell you to not interrupt me!!! Didn’t you hear me talking?!”, the leader of the group showed an extremely annoyed expression as he shouted, turning his eyes to the side, “And what’s ‘interesting’?! Someone who’s been refusing to properly work and lazying around, with constant disinterest plastered all over your face at all times, suddenly speaking about interest?!”
“I’ve been assigned to bodyguard you, Young Master. Not to babysit or be your lapdog while you’re doing your tasks”, the one called Li Weifang spoke with a neutral, slightly carefree and free-willed tone, adding, “And that guy there’s more than capable of killing your half-brother. Don’t look down at him simply because of his Cultivation Realm alone, or you’ll die faster than you can say ‘Dad’, your favorite word”
“Wha-…?!?! You!!! Just you wait!!! Once Father hears-…!”, the one Li Weifang called ‘Young Master’ shouted, pointing his finger at the former, but seemingly realizing the irony, his words were cut off, as his finger began shaking from an even stronger rage.
Li Weifang, meanwhile, didn’t take his eyes off Wu Long, recognizing him as a dangerous opponent who should not be let out of sight.
‘Hoh… quite good’, Wu Long, from his side, also looked impressed.
There was an air of an experienced and highly skilled warrior, with extremely keen sense about this Li Weifang.
He was able to even gleam danger from Wu Long, though of course, his sense was limited as he only perceived danger for the Young Master he was protecting, not for his own level.
At the same time, he picked up on the crucial words ‘half-brother’, which vaguely expanded his understanding of the larger situation.
Although a lot of it was deduction and speculation from the tiny pieces of the puzzle he had, and thus remained a working theory, not something he relied on to make any decisions.
‘But really, if I’m right, the fire I started with those sparks is going to be quite a big one, attracting a great many moths to its flame’, he inwardly sighed.
His luck continued to be two-faced, on one hand giving him unbelievable chances and opportunities, as well as fateful chance encounters with amazing beautiful women, on the other, thrusting him right in the middle of thousands-of-years-old brewing conspiracies and schemes that he would have nothing to do with unless he stumbled into them without knowing.
“Baihu, let’s try that thing”, he then chuckled as he made up his mind having observed the group and their threat levels.
“Sure”, Fen Baihu smiled, and her mist began appearing around her and Wu Long, the part around Wu Long becoming darker and turning into his own mist.
Wu Long still wasn’t skilled with using his Nightmare Fox bloodline’s abilities, but with Fen Baihu now having access to his power, she was able to support it and give him the ability to use it more freely.
The combined light and dark mist, moving in rotating fashion then suddenly shot forward toward the group in the air.
Li Weifang’s eyes widened as he quickly flew in front of his protection target, shielding the Young Master while a halberd appeared in his hands, a large protective shield of Spiritual Qi and Wind Qi appearing in front of him.
But the mist easily covered them regardless, unperturbed by the Wind Qi as it was not corporeal.
“Shit, Young Ma-…!”, Li Weifang could only try to cover the Young Master he was protecting with his Spiritual Qi, and turned to try and grab onto him, but his words were cut off as the mist covered him, and then quickly dissipated, leaving empty space for the ‘Young Master’ and the group with him to look with blank faces at.
“I will leave that Young Master to you Ling’er”, Wu Long smiled toward Ye Ling, who nodded, her sword appearing in her hand, and then he turned to the rest of his beauties, “You can pick your opponents as well, but remember to tackle them two to one at least, as they’re still a bit tough for you”
He knew Fen Baihu would back them up and protect them in case of any danger, though if they did not panic and make mistakes they should be fine, not to mention this ‘Young Master’ wasn’t strong enough to keep Ye Ling from keeping an eye on the others.
Liang Yuhan, meanwhile began spreading her illusion to the traitors of the Helian Family so they wouldn’t try anything while Wu Long and his ladies were dealing with this new threat.
The darker part of the mist then covered Wu Long, and his figure disappeared, reappearing above a vast red plane, with dry and dead land, where Li Weifang was floating in the air, looking around in shock as the night turned into sunset time, the red sun hovering over the horizon turning this plane with already reddish soil into a bloody color.
“What is this? Some kind of illusion?”, Li Weifang asked, seeing Wu Long appear.
“You know full well that with the tier and grade of the Illusion Protection Treasure around your neck I’d have to be at least in higher Realm than you to cast an illusion powerful enough to completely entrap you, to the point you’d truly feel in another place”, Wu Long spoke calmly, “This is just so we don’t disturb the others with our fight”
Li Weifang narrowed his eyes, “Fight? You truly intend to fight me?”
The Sky Piercer was still in Wu Long’s hand as he floated a bit closer to Li Weifang, “Well, considering your Young Master’s going to oppose me I’ll have no choice but to kill him. Besides I don’t want him to run to his ‘Dad’ as you put it, while I don’t even know who that is and where to expect trouble from”
“Haa~… so be it”, Li Weifang spoke with a sigh, “You won’t live long anyway, having killed that man’s son”
“You do make me curious… mind telling me who ‘that man’ is?”, Wu Long made a weak attempt at getting something out of this man.
“Haha, if you manage to survive against me, sure”, Li Weifang lightly laughed, amused at how this man was talking as if he had a future after this fight.
“Oh? Sounds like a good deal. I’ll take it”, Wu Long slightly widened his eyes, not expecting to be given any answer at all.
“A good deal, huh? You sure are ambitious… I’ll give you that”, Li Weifang’s grip on his halberd tightened as currents of wind began forming all around, and accumulating into a vortex around the halberd’s blades.
LOL (this chapter was supposed to be in the Volume 9, but since I made the draft while there were only 8 volumes, it is mistakenly in the 8th. I would have to wait for my editor to come out on Monday to make this change, but this really is part of volume 9 hahaha)
Talk about EPIC FAIL *facepalm*
