Chapter 2447 High Vitality
Myria calmed after a while again as she sat cross-legged and boosted the healing with her own energy. Never in her life had she imagined that she would be healed by some other person, more than a single time, but she didn't find it intrusive or uncomfortable for some reason.
Instead, her soul felt at ease while she was full of concentration.
Ellia had also visibly calmed, her eyes no longer appearing teary-eyed. Instead, there was some guilt in it as she felt that she had overreacted and blamed Davis too much. She wanted to apologize but couldn't find the right opportunity.
However, she knew that it couldn't be helped. It was the first time she had seen Myria be unable to do anything that her soul couldn't help but scream out for her other half. It was purely instinctive and forceful as though afraid to let go of the lost soul's hand, careful that it might disappear.
It was a strange feeling as though they had telepathy for danger. It made her think that her souls hadn't completely separated, after all, but if it was just this, she could live with it as it was way better than feeling what the other thought. Perhaps, this connection would even disappear with time.
Nonetheless, as she was in deep contemplation, a voice echoed out.
"Why are you all silent? Ah, I'd rather learn something new. Ellia, what's your lifespan like? I think mine has reached fifty million years or around that number, but it's weird because I thought immortals were supposed to live forever. Has my body somehow been degraded?"
Davis spoke with some pride but worried, knowing that he wouldn't have lost to anyone in terms of lifespan while also becoming fidgety after having his horizons widened by Saintess Lunaria.
Immortal Emperors weren't something he could deal with on his stage, and yet, one of such existence had aged, looking old. It was the Law Enforcement Elder in the easternmost branch. It certainly meant that immortals could not live forever, but with knowing someone's lifespan, he would be able to perform several counters against them in certain situations.
However, was his own lifespan small or high? This was something he could not measure as he was still lost over the capabilities of immortals. He still lacked the books to study, but now that he was here in the Aurora Cloud Gate, he was prepared to spend some effort.
However, Ellia gawked upon hearing his question.
"Fifty million years…? That's five times high as an Immortal Stage Cultivator with a Heaven Immortal Vessel..." She blinked, closing her parted lips as she shook her head.
Her words caused Davis to smile, understanding that his lifespan was on the higher side. After all, it meant that immortals with a Heaven Immortal Vessel would be able to live up to ten million years.
Myria also expressed some shock as her body trembled. It was two times her own lifespan, even with her Heaven Immortal Soul Vessel affecting her body on a positive note because of her immortal physique. After all, even her Heaven Immortal Vessel was created through resources like Ellia and not through an innate physique, as she lacked one. However, she refused to open her eyes, leaving Davis looking at Ellia for more answers.
Ellia saw that Myria refused to talk and took on from there, eying Davis.
"You're right. Immortals are able to live forever."
"…?" Davis became confused. Didn't he just establish that immortals could not live forever with what Ellia told him? Why was she changing her tune now?
Noticing Davis's confusion, Ellia sweetly smiled.
"Immortals don't age past their prime. If you see a middle-aged or an old immortal, that's because there is a lack of blood essence in their body. Their blood essence decreases over time rather than degrades. Why? Because every nine thousand years, there is an immortal tribulation that humans must encounter. It takes away their blood essence before they could even sense it and sends down three strikes of heavenly lightning which is not that strong unless you're too injured to endure."
"Therefore, as long as they could nurture their blood essence and keep it at an optimal level, they would be able to survive past their known limit, which is anywhere from a million years to ten million years."
"Once past that period of time, it is actually better and cheaper to obtain resources to become an Immortal King and boost your vitality rather than stay and keep your life afloat with expensive life-extending resources." Ellia giggled.
Davis couldn't help but silently chuckle at Ellia's eyes which appeared lively. Her words caused him to instantly understand the relationship between the immortal vessel and blood essence. The former was the anchor that supported the vitality from degrading.
If the vessel ends up breaking, the blood essence no longer is able to sustain itself and collapses, which is why those immortals who have their immortal vessels crippled quickly turn old and scatter into dust in a few seconds or years if they have passed a certain age.
"Of course, there are other factors involved like cracked immortal vessels, ailments, cultivation deviation, and self-harming techniques, runes, and formations that disables people from making it past the Immortal Stage or their potential limit."
"The same way, other positive factors like chaotic energy making your Heaven Immortal Vessel superior in being able to decrease the loss of blood essence with time is what allowed you to have such a long lifespan. In other cases, having dragon blood, immortal panacea fruit, or things of that sort would also help immensely."
"Recovering immortal blood essence is extremely difficult because only higher-tiered resources and heavenly resources are capable of doing so. Not any mere immortal pills made with ordinary immortal resources is capable of that feat, and even if one could find higher-tiered resources, the number of alchemists who could successfully complete a refinement is far less than the number of the buyers."
"That's why existence like Saints and Saintesses like us are also worshiped. We almost never die if we keep using our energy to further boost our vitality from the start until it reaches a state where we can no longer restore it from the overbearingness of the heavenly tribulation. But at that time, we would've far outlived higher-tiered cultivators. Hence our specialty invokes admiration and reverence."
Ellia clearly explained, causing Davis to repeatedly nod his head over the information and eloquent delivery before he wryly smiled.
"When have I become a Saint?" he could only remember slaughtering many people.
It felt hair-raising and uncomfortable to be called a Saint when he had that much blood on his hands.
Seeing Davis's smile, Ellia smilingly shook her head.
"Your cognition and perception of the world don't matter. If you're capable of using life energy, you're a Saint. If you're capable of using death energy, you're a Fiend. This aspect comes from the reverence, and the fear people hold towards our rare power. It is extreme, so you cannot change their perspective easily. It is quite similar here, and I dare say if you come to the immortal world and make your name as a Saint, countless women will do anything in order to warm your bed."
Davis couldn't help but chuckle while Ellia giggled. Both of them glanced at Myria, who didn't seem amused to hear this type of conversation, but she still kept her eyes shut, seemingly ignoring them.
A few minutes later, he had completed healing her, but he had to admit most of the work was done by her. His life energy wasn't on par with Myria's, but if he reached her law level intent, he was confident that he would be more capable than her.
"Ellia, I'm leaving. Are you stayi-"
"I'm coming with you."
Ellia instantly came forward and grabbed his hand, looking worried if her previous actions had irritated him. However, looking at him cast a bright smile at her, her expression cleared up as she shook his hand with joy.
"Prince Davis is the best~"
From a young age, he was always understanding and cared for her. She was a fool to have thought that a little slight would crack the feelings they had for each other. It wasn't that frail even though she had just started solidifying it.
Davis lightly chuckled and turned around to leave.
"Where's the exit?" Just as he asked Ellia, a cold voice echoed from behind.
"Wait."
"Although I can take advantage of Saintess Lunaria's goodwill completely as we have an equivalent exchange, there's a limit to how accepting of overpowering aid I can be as an expert. If anything, I'd lose my edge by relying on someone else for everything. It just isn't my style and makes me uncomfortable, but more than that, Saintess Lunaria isn't going to be there when I face trouble in the immortal world."
'Yeah, that's obvious as you were always by yourself…' Davis blinked but smiled as he turned around.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go then."
Her words said that she trusted him to aid her more than anyone in the immortal world.
Myria's brows relaxed a bit on hearing his answer, and she couldn't help but lightly produce a mellow voice, "Follow me."
Davis and Ellia followed Myria as they came across a teleportation formation that they used and disappeared from the location.
"Sigh… two monstrous geniuses have appeared in my Aurora Cloud Gate. Would it invite prosperity or calamity? Unfortunately, I wouldn't be there to see it."
A melodious yet somber voice echoed with unsuppressed curiosity before it faded away like passing clouds, perhaps never to be heard again.
