D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad
Chapter 1889 Leaving the WebChapter 1889: Chapter 1889 Leaving the Web
— Lily —
It turned out Kat had been sent really far away. Like, the other side of the biome far away. It would be at least an hour of full sprinting at least and Kat still planned to check out what places of interest she could. Even sticking to a very limited straight line towards the town was going to take her the rest of the night and perhaps, most of the morning. That being what it was… it meant Hedera and Lily could either sit around and relax or get out and do their own thing. Correct content is on
“So what are you thinking Hedera?” asked Lily. “We could head out and explore around the town… or if Weaver has other options for us we could explore that area before coming back here and meeting up at the town later.”
Hedera looked a bit surprised. “You’d want to go and explore with me? I mean… I don’t exactly mind the idea and I won’t turn down help. I sort of thought Timmy would show back up at some point but I guess not quite yet. Then again, you can actually help me with challenges or… well can you? You’re not MY familiar. Though honestly I’m surprised that Thyme allowed you to participate. Now that Kat’s not quite so close I can sort of make out that you’re stronger than you should be,”
“Sort of?” asked Lily.
Hedera glanced at Weaver who just shrugged back. “Yes. I can sort of tell. To break the illusion a little bit… doesn’t matter how good a disguise is when you can recognise the… shape is wrong but like… ’shape’ of someone’s power. It’s hard because I can still sort of see an echo of Kat’s surrounding you, probably the familiar ritual… and because people ’like Thyme’ project a bit,”
“Look, I’m doing my best alright. There really isn’t much else to be done about it,” said ’Weaver’. Theoretically, it could be taken as a statement in character, and both of them were going to treat it that way if anyone asked. Of course, they both had a good idea of what ’Weaver’ had meant.
“Right…” said Lily slowly. “Well with that being stated I guess I should say that… well yes I am. I think Thyme was a bit annoyed about Kat being forced down to Rank 2 power levels without compensation for it. Especially when the rich team seems to have armour that lets them punch above that level. At least… that’s my guess,”
“So wait, you ARE actually Rank 3?” asked Hedera.
“Yup, completely, unrestricted, Rank 3. Don’t get spreading that around,” announced Lily. She hadn’t planned on telling anyone, but if Hedera could already see her power, or at least most of it… then there really wasn’t much of a point in trying to hide it. If anything, might be riskier to try and play it off. Hedera might feel free to share her suspicions. Asking to keep it secret though? Lily felt that would be more secure.
“Is it weird I’m still more scared of Kat?” asked Hedera, breaking the silence between them.
“I don’t know,” admitted Lily. “I think… probably not?”
“Really?” asked Hedera.
“Look… Kat’s… she’s pretty easy going as a person and willing to overlook a lot as long as you’re not targeting me directly. She’s also quite willing to talk me down when bad things happen to her because she can regenerate and thinks that’s an acceptable excuse for allowing pretty large amounts of abuse. Of course, I can also be pretty shy and I don’t exactly love taking the initiative with things. Though… if I really decided something was a problem? I’d be far less kind in dealing with it than Kat would be,” explained Lily.
“I don’t think that changes my answer Lily. Unsettles me sure, and makes me a bit worried about if I really want to go exploring you, but I think I’m still more scared of Kat. Maybe it’s just because she’s a demon, and that’s probably unfair but I’m trying to be honest in my dealings with you both after how generous you’ve been so I thought I should get it out there, and I mean Weaver’s kinda scary too but it’s not the same because well… yeah,” rambled Hedera.
Lily sighed and glanced over to Weaver who was just smiling slightly. “So… what do we do? Around the town or somewhere else?” Lily wasn’t expecting Kat to chime in.
[I think you should go somewhere else. Not only are the actors encouraged to hunt for orbs around the town themselves but the spot I had to get out of is invested with monsters. If you can’t fly it’s going to be a big effort to get out and I sort of riled them up when I did. Not sure if they’ll still be annoyed or not but even without know where else Weaver might send you I can say it’s going to be more effort for less gain.]
“Oh? Did Kat just tell you something?” asked Hedera.
“Did that show up in my aura or whatever?” asked Lily.
Hedera laughed slightly. “Oh, um no. Maybe if I was better at reading that sort of thing I could check for something like that but it was more that your eyes lit up like you’d just been told some great news. The slight frown indicated that you couldn’t have learnt anything too nice and well… just learning news without Weaver or me chatting limits the options. Plus, I know you CAN talk to Kat so like… of the three people you can talk to there was only one answer when I didn’t hear you speaking you know?”
Lily sighed. “I really need to get that under control. One day someone is really going to take advantage of that weakness,”
“Well I think it’s adorable,” said Weaver. “How close the two of you are. How comfortable you feel sharing your minds with each other. Sure it’s not ideal that using your hidden mental communication is… really easy to notice because of how you act but… I think the world would be a darker place if you could. Now… what did your girlfriend suggest?”
“She thought going to the town would be more dangerous and less rewarding so suggested we go elsewhere. Do… you have other places open right now?” asked Lily.
Weaver nodded. “Not too many, and I’m still hesitant to try and connect back to the other areas of the island without having someone carry a fresh node over to them. Still, that doesn’t mean I have none. There are… three stable pathways, four unstable pathways and five that don’t really exist anymore and I can’t recommend at all.”
“What’s the difference between stable and unstable?” asked Hedera.
“Stable paths are ones I can always open for you. Walk in, walk out. No problem. Unstable pathways have some issue to them. Perhaps they only open for a few minutes every hour, perhaps they move around a bit. Stuff like that. The last five… I can feel the whisps of them, and I could certainly force an opening once… but forcing it like that would probably collapse the tunnel then and there. You’d only get one chance to use them and even then, it would be a sprint that might end in death,” explained Weaver.
“Let’s just pick something stable,” said Hedera.
Weaver nodded. “Alright, sounds good. I’ll be working on improving things of course, but for now… of the stable ones we have that one near town Kat has already used. Then we have another one that’s… further past the town, right on the boarder between autumn and Winter and the last one is closest to Kat’s position, but it’s not really ’close’ at all. It’s somewhat near the central part of the island but not really. Closer to summer than winter but once again, not really. It’s just over in that direction,”
“Sounds like we only really have one option,” said Lily with a shrug.
Hedera frowned. “We could go to the one near winter… but you’re right. If anything we should save that one until we plan to go into new areas for Weaver in a few days. There’s likely still plenty to find in our current issue,”
“Well, if you’ve decided just let me know and I’ll open the way. It’s stable but closed currently. Don’t worry, I can watch quite a few of these entrances and make sure only what I want gets through. It’s just the first opening after so long that’s going to be a bit draining. Probably can’t do two in a row so just be certain which way you want to go. It’s probably why I fell asleep yesterday now that I’m thinking about it,” announced Weaver.
*Really not sure I believe you in regards to that excuse. I feel it’s more likely you just sleep when you’re tired but you put that off because you had visitors. Well that or your injuries caught up to you after you did a bunch of stuff. Still… I guess we can take five more minutes to be absolutely certain about what we want to do.*
