D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad
Chapter 1797 - 1797 Witch of Ice Part 3— Kat —
When Eleanora managed to finally catch up to Kat it was to see the demon sitting on a rock drinking tea. Well, it was actually plain water in a teacup but it LOOKED like tea. “Really?” asked Eleanora. “Aren’t you taking this a bit too lightly?”
Kat shrugged “Honestly it took you long enough to get over here that I completely regenerated my demonic energy so… no?” She wasn’t even lying. Though Kat was leaving out the fact that she hadn’t been particularly low on demonic energy when she was kicked away… but it just didn’t do much damage. The impact was spread out over her whole body and bruises were easy to heal.
Perhaps if she couldn’t fly the impact with the ground would’ve done so more damage… but for Kat the whole trip was basically just an excuse to regenerate her demonic energy. It had only taken Eleanora around two minutes make it here, but that was with Eleanora sprinting and burning some mana to do so. Kat had been able to just go along for the ride the whole time. Didn’t need to burn demonic energy for any sort of boost or use any abilities.
Eleanora frowned and tapped her foot for a few seconds as she clearly considered something before her boots lit up. Kat already knew what was coming and stored her teacup away as a giant foot slammed down on her. This time though, Kat wanted to test some things. That… and she was a bit more willing to hurt Eleanora. Kat waited for the boot to nearly make contact and then slammed her hand upwards while coated in demonic flames.
Kat ended up embedded in the earth but her attack did go through. The ice cracked and soon the fire was freezing the metal… at least until the foot disappeared and the burning section remained behind. “Huh?” questioned Kat as she grabbed the metal plate from the air and used it as a projectile hurling it at Eleanora.
Perhaps not the best idea because she summoned up a single sigil spell that sent the metal right back at Kat with nearly twice the speed. It was easy to dodge, but while Kat was ducking under it, Eleanora summoned up her giant hands to crush Kat after the metal had passed by. Kat found she didn’t have time to escape, not when she was still stuck in the ground so water it was.
The hands slammed together and Kat reformed herself next to them and checked Eleanora’s reaction, but the elf still seemed inordinately pleased with things. *Thought she might be annoyed at the fact I keep regenerating and dodging attacks by turning into water but she doesn’t seem annoyed at all. If anything she seems happier now then at the start of the fight. Maybe using demonic fire was the right choice? I still don’t want to use it against her directly… but…*
Kat didn’t have time to finish the thought because another set of limbs were coming for her. This time, it was a mix of all four. Eleanora was dancing around with her feet while her hands were raised up above them, clearly waiting to see what Kat would do in response. Still… Kat wanted to check something and once again turned into water.
With her 360 degree vision Kat checked the bottom of the ice feet to see if the metal plate now embedded in the dirt behind her was missing. It was a little hard to tell through the ice but the answer seemed like… no? Kat thought that was a little bit odd and was willing to take some damage to double check. Reforming Kat slammed her fist into the bottom of the foot, cracking the ice and revealing… a completely whole metal foot underneath.
Hmm… so I’ll need to actually hit her then? Get in close? Why does she get such cool ranged options! I’m also not sure I CAN get close. Her armour can turn into spikes and force me to damage myself on them and her limb summoning… magic? Enchantment? Even if they’re forced to copy her own limbs can be summoned anywhere so getting in close is going to be hard… but I guess I’ll have to try it. Just hitting them isn’t going to work long term.
What Kat didn’t know was that Eleanora just had two sets of enchanted limbs for eight in total. It allowed for one set to recover if it was damaged while fighting with the second set. If Kat had wanted to she could’ve torn through them until they were unusable and then approached the elf… but she didn’t know that and didn’t think to test.
So instead Kat charged forward using all of her speed to try and get in close. Eleanora was ready to counter with hands and feet all in the way. Hands tried to slap Kat into the ground which Kat countered by becoming water for a bit. The feet were dealt with much the same way…
Until Kat was just about to get to Eleanora. An ice hand was summoned alongside a spell sigil. Kat transformed and was ready to slide under the hand while made out of water… but instead a giant ice bowl was summoned alongside the hand. Cat was scooped up alongside a bunch of dirt. Kat tried to escape but the second hand came up with the other hemisphere and fused them together locking her in a prison of ice.
Kat rocketed towards the seem and tried to squeeze herself through but there was no gap at all. This might as well have been one solid piece of ice. Transforming back to normal Kat went to try and smash her way out… and then Eleanora started the next stage of the attack. Kat was thrown around as Eleanora pretended she was mixing a drink. Kat was thrown all around the orb, constantly failing to find her footing.
Kat tried to fly for a few moments but the shakes weren’t consistent and Kat quickly found herself slammed into one of the walls and back in the cycle. Kat tried to get a grip on the ice, crack through it and get a spot to hold on but it was hard. Eleanora didn’t give her much breathing room to dig a hand in and the ice was unbelievably smooth. Kat did manage to crack it a few times but never seemed to be able to grab on and the crack was either smoothed out or simply lost amongst the rest of the orb.
So Kat found she had to go for the draining option. Kat summoned up a huge amount of demonic fire and coated the ice in it, hoping for the fire to dig through the ice and start to attack the hands. It must have worked because not long after Kat and the orb was dropped to the ground and she was now. All it cost was a full twenty percent of her demonic energy and Kat found herself wincing at that part.
*Then again… I’ve got no idea how much mana this takes from Eleanora to maintain. Perhaps I’m closer to winning then it seems?* Now that Kat was safe on the ground it took one solid punch to break her way out of the orb. She stuck her head out for just a moment before ducking back inside as a hand whistled past the area her head had just been. Kat’s pleased expression quickly dissipated when a giant foot slammed through the top of the ice ball and tried to flatten her anyway.
Kat launched herself out of the gap she’d made and looked around. She was basically back where she started, Eleanora was keeping her at maximum distance. The crazy battle maniac was keeping her at range and doing it well. *The worst part is I can’t tell if she’s doing this just to extend the battle or if getting up close and personal with me is actually dangerous to her. I mean, my demonic fire would be but there’s no way I’m willing to use that on her directly… or am I? Is she good enough at regeneration to risk it? No. No I’m not going to do it. This has been fun.*
That didn’t mean Kat wasn’t tempted to just fly away as she glared at Eleanora’s grinning face some distance away. Getting up close and personal was going to be a massive pain. That’s when Kat had a dumb idea. A really, really dumb idea. Crouching down on all fours Kat dashed forward keeping her head facing upwards. A hand of course went to meet her charge and Kat felt the ice shatter on her head allowing for her horns to dig into the hands.
Kat reached up to widen the tear her horns had made in the metal but Eleanora just vanished the construct and then stomped her into the ground with a foot and well… Kat had to admit she felt pretty silly after that. *Ok… why did I think that was going to work? I thought ‘this is just stupid enough to work’ but no. It was just stupid. Of course Eleanora can remove the limbs whenever she wants. That’s the whole point of summoning them!*
