Siegfried and Cheon Woo-Jin teamed up against Seraph, while Deus focused on Death Fog.

“You wretched insects!” Hennessy roared. The sight of three impudent humans cornering Seraph and Death Fog enraged him, and he attempted to assist his comrades, but—

Tsk, tsk…”

Betelgeuse stepped forward, blocking Hennessy’s path.

“Where do you think you’re going, you vile hideous creature from another world?”

“Move!” Hennessy screamed and spewed, intending to melt Betelgeuse.

Ugh! You filthy creature!” Betelgeuse cried out, grimacing in disgust.

The venom had splattered across him, but he merely frowned in response. His skin wasn't corroding, and he wasn't poisoned as well.

Although Betelgeuse often found himself beaten to a pulp by Deus, he was still a Grandmaster. This meant that he possessed a body that was immune to all poisons, so the venom had no effect on him.

In fact, even his gear remained unscathed, but this was all thanks to the fact that they were coated with the Kautschuk Tree Sap that Siegfried had provided to them earlier.

For Hennessy, this meant that none of his skills could hurt Betelgeuse, leaving him with only basic attacks to rely on.

“Get lost, you disgusting pest!”

With a booming voice, Betelgeuse went on the offensive by swinging his massive saber.

Hennessy spewed more venom, but his efforts were for naught. His opponent had full resistance against poison, and this made the battle highly disadvantageous for him.

Betelgeuse's advantage over Hennessy was so overwhelming that he was still dominating the battle even though he was in a battered state.

Hahaha! I’ll slice you nicely into even pieces!” Betelgeuse roared and laughed boisterously while mercilessly hacking at Hennessy with his giant saber.

The fierce clash went on for a while until…

Swoosh!

Betelgeuse used Quick Draw with perfect precision.

Chwaaak!

The blade cleaved through Hennessy’s head and body, splitting him in two before piercing the ground.

“T-This… can’t be…” Hennessy groaned. His severed figure then collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Thus, Hennessy met his demise just after Pluto.

Meanwhile, Siegfried and Cheon Woo-Jin displayed remarkable teamwork against Seraph.

Siegfried used his debuff fields to weaken Seraph while interrupting his divine abilities with Wave of Truth and Wave of Oppression. On the other hand, Cheon Woo-Jin unleashed his stacks and bombarded Seraph with explosive damage. 𐍂ΑꞐőʙÈᶊ

Unsurprisingly, Cheon Woo-Jin dealt far more damage compared to Siegfried even though he was armed with the +15 Vanquisher’s Grasp; the difference in their damage output was nearly double.

"Y…You…!” Seraph was furious as he struggled to deal with both Siegfried and Cheon Woo-Jin.

“Disgusting scums!”

That perfectly summed up how Seraph thought of his predicament.

The Blaze Hydras’ breath attacks were weakening him, while the slowing effects of the Frost Hydras and Night Stalkers were driving him mad. To make matters worse, Wave of Truth and Wave of Oppression rendered his abilities entirely useless, leaving him with only basic attacks as his option.

“Hey! Cheon Woo-Jin! I’m going to freeze that bastard!” Siegfried called out.

“Alright!”

Cheon Woo-Jin retreated upon hearing Siegfried’s urgent shouting.

Just as he did, a blinding white flash erupted.

“Ar…Argh!”

Seraph was frozen upon getting engulfed by the extreme cold of Absolute Zero. He wasn't completely frozen, but the unforgiving cold had rendered him practically immobile.

Tsk… Look at this punk,” Siegfried grumbled after noticing that Seraph had managed to resist getting fully frozen. Then, he summoned ten thousand ice shurikens from his Blood Frost Orb and spread them into the air.

Shwaaak! Shwiiik!

“Torrential Flower Rain!”

A fierce blizzard of shurikens raged on, shredding Seraph’s partially frozen body.

A-Aaaack!”

Seraph’s cries of agony echoed as he received stack after stack of Status Ailment: Frostbite, all thanks to Siegfried's ice shurikens. The frost engulfed his figure, freezing him.

The unrelenting assault continued until Seraph was completely frozen.

The Frost Hydras’ freezing breath, the effects of Absolute Zero, and the Torrential Flower Rain were simply too much for even the specter of the boss monster conjured by the Soul Fragment of Apocalius.

Siegfried stepped toward the block of ice and prepared to use Touch of Death to kill the boss monster.

“Wait.”

However, Cheon Woo-Jin stepped in and stopped him.

“Don’t bother.”

“Huh? What do you mean by that?” Siegfried asked, looking confused.

“I’ve already exhausted all of my stacks.”

“So?”

“Save your skill for later.”

“What in the world are you–?”

“Let me finish this guy off,” Cheon Woo-Jin said. He channeled the last of his stacks and threw a decisive punch at Seraph.

BOOM!

His fist tore through Seraph’s face and emerged from the back of his head.

A clean kill.

With that, the boss monster conjured by the Almighty Soul, the Omnipotent Seraph, fell in battle.

Siegfried turned to check on Death Fog.

“Is it over?” Deus asked, sitting atop Death Fog’s lifeless corpse with a grin.

“Y-Yes, it is,” Siegfried replied, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

“You did well. You were really impressive.”

“R-Really?”

“Yeah. You're weak as hell, but…” Deus trailed off. Then, he narrowed his eyes and said, “There’s something about you that feels… familiar.

Haha! Is that so?”

“But damn… look at that mess.”

“Huh?”

Deus pointed at the expedition team rather than replying.

Ah…” Siegfried muttered after seeing his exhausted comrades sprawled out on the ground. They were completely drained after fighting so many otherworldly monsters.

“I guess let’s regroup for now,” Siegfried said with an awkward smile.

He had no other choice but to take a break for now.

***

The expedition team was in shambles.

Cheon Woo-Jin and Betelgeuse—two of the strongest members of the expedition team could no longer fight. The former was now out of commission after exhausting all of his stacks, while the latter was in poor condition after over-exerting himself.

Yong Seol-Hwa, Gosran, and Daytona were exhausted as well upon fighting against the endless horde of otherworldly monsters.

Seung-Gu, who had racked up the most achievements in this battle, had completely drained his mana. Golem King Reventon urgently needed repairs. The Iron Golems were in an utter mess, and they'd soon crumble if they were not repaired in time.

The entire group was on the brink of collapse.

Among the group, only Daode Tianzun remained unscathed. Fighting under the oppressive conditions created by the Void Mist had taken a toll on them. To make matters worse, they had consumed all of their potions.

“Does anyone have any potions left?”

“I’m out, too.”

“Same here. Damn it, it seems we’re all out of potions…”

They had to gulp down their top-tier potions like water just to fight for their survival, so it was only natural for them to run out of proteins.

“Here, take turns drinking from this,” Siegfried said, pulling out the Infinite Flask. Then, he passed it to his comrades and added, “It has a one-minute cooldown, so just take turns drinking it.”

The group was astonished at the sight of the Infinite Flask.

“A potion that’s… infinite?”

“This is insane…”

“Where in the world did you get something like this, hyung-nim?”

They took turns replenishing their HP, Mana, and Stamina with the Infinite Flask while in awe of its mysterious effects.

Aigoo…”

Deus was still perched atop Death Fog's corpse. He took a swig from his leather flask and looked at the group with pity.

“What do you plan to accomplish being so weak like that? Sigh… I feel sorry for my descendants…”

Hahaha…” Siegfried laughed awkwardly in response.

“Hey, what’s so funny? You’re too weak to protect the world, you know?”

“Yes, I know,” Siegfried replied with a nod. Then, he added, “But we cannot give up, can we?”

“Well, I guess you’re right.”

“We will keep going as far as we can. If we die trying, so be it.”

“No matter what?”

Haha! That’s the spirit. Yes, a man has got to have guts and grit,” Deus said with a chuckle.

“I agree.”

“Anyway, let’s get moving if you’ve rested enough,” Deus said. Then, he stretched and added, “We don’t have time to sit around here.”

“Pardon?”

“I have no idea what’s going on, but those strange otherworldly energies are merging. I have a feeling that we won't be able to stop this if we waste any more time.”

“Alright.”

Siegfried immediately prepared to head to the Guardians’ headquarters, the Heaven’s Eye.

“I’ll go ahead,” Deus said, grabbing Inzaghi by the scruff and leaping into the air.

“...”

Siegfried was left speechless as he watched Deus and Inzaghi soar toward the Heaven’s Eye. Deus was not using some sort of flying ability or special ability. He merely jumped, using nothing but his raw leg strength and mana to catapult himself tens of kilometers into the sky.

“So you were such a force to reckon with even in your youth, Master? Hahaha…” Siegfried muttered with a laugh. Then, he strapped Hamchi to his back and spread out his +10 Black Crow Wingsuit.

“I’ll take care of the rest,” Daode Tianzun said, ensuring that those without flying abilities wouldn't be left behind. He cast Wings of the Sky, a high-level spell that created magical wings on the target, allowing them to fly swiftly for several minutes.

Thus, the expedition team ascended into the skies, each using their own means, and headed toward the Heaven’s Eye.

***

The way to the Heaven’s Eye wasn't smooth at all.

The Church of Osric had no plans of letting them get near it without putting up a fight.

“Damn it!” Siegfried cursed and gritted his teeth at the sight of a massive swarm of flying monsters. The monsters easily numbered in the hundreds of thousands, and they were all heading straight for the expedition team.

Kyaaak!”

“Kieeeek!”

“Grrr! Waaah!”

The flying monsters were chimeras, abominations created through alchemy. Not only did they have incredibly high Attack Power, but their Defense and Magic Resistance were formidable, too.

Damn it…’ Siegfried realized that they were in a pinch once again.

The Debuff Master wasn't a class made for aerial combat, and neither were his comrades. They'd manage somehow if there were only a few hundred monsters flying at them, but there was an overwhelming number of flying chimeras ahead of them.

But that was not all…

Kuuuoooor!”

A red dragon, at least three thousand years old, emerged and let out a deafening roar before charging toward the expedition team. Clearly, Immortal Alchemist Acheron, the leader of the Church of Osric, had enslaved the dragon, transforming it into one of her minions.

“Go! Siegfried! I’ll handle this and clear a path for you! Just go!” Daode Tianzun shouted urgently as the red dragon closed in.

“B-But! A red dragon is too much—!”

“I’ll take care of it and catch up! Just trust me and go!”

With that, Dadoe Tianzun unleashed a barrage of powerful spells toward the approaching swarm of enemies.

“I’ll guard you, Elder Brother!” Betelgeuse exclaimed.

He hovered in front of Daode Tianzun and cut down the chimeras that dared to get near him.

“I’ll help clear the way! Go ahead!” Gosran shouted and unleashed a rain of arrows, taking down numerous chimeras and carving a path for Siegfried.

Damn it… I wasn’t expecting a red dragon…’ Siegfried growled inwardly.

He wanted to stay and fight, but that was not an option for him.

Rumble!

A burst of light emanated from the Heaven’s Eye, and it was transforming into a massive spatial teleportation circle.

In other words, the Church of Osric had decided to retreat. They were clearly trying to warp their entire headquarters to another dimension and were using the flying chimeras and red dragon as shields to buy time.

Kyuuu! We have to hurry, owner punk!” Hamchi cried out.

“I know!” Siegfried shouted in response while pouring as much mana as he could into the +10 Black Crow Wingsuit.

Fwooosh!

The +10 Black Crow Wingsuit propelled him at supersonic speed, rocketing him straight toward the Heaven’s Eyes just as it was about to warp.

“Hey! Hurry up and get up here!” Deus shouted at him.

He and Inzaghi were already on the Heaven’s Eye.

“I am coming!” Siegfried shouted back, shooting forward like a bullet.

Shwoom!

Flash!

The Heaven’s Eye emitted a blinding light before disappearing completely.
