Chapter 3673: Alright, Next
Futsuka was feeling lost at that moment. He had two elders who sided with him, but how would he even find those elders? Battles were happening everywhere, and everyone wished to find the marks. Yet, it was simply impossible to tell who the real owners really were.
*Bang!*
Suddenly, an explosion happened near him, and he quickly backed away, together with a few other experts who were avoiding battle. It made sense, right? If you could just hold your own and let everyone else tire themselves out, you would have an advantage at the end.
But then again, what if someone acquired the eight marks? Everything would be over in that case, so these guys couldn’t wait forever.
Futsuka gathered his Fire Element, and from his Spatial Ring, a net came out. It was made of a red metal capable of amplifying fire element skills and with a hidden feature. Futsuka threw the net upwards, and in the next second, it increased several times in size.
*Vush, vush!*
Two other experts, who looked like a Demon Beast and a humanoid, came from the explosions’ side. They aimed at Futsuka for no special reason, just because they thought it was a good chance. Then, two waves of energy came at Futsuka. Futsuka couldn’t help but narrow his eyes. Until the enemies attacked, it was hard to even tell what they would do, as you couldn’t rely on their appearances. A Demon Beast suddenly using a Saber wouldn’t be out of the possibilities.
Another weapon appeared in Futsuka’s hands, a pair of Crescent Moon Swords. Stage Five Sword Intent burst from them, and Futsuka rotated.
’Moon Whirl!’
Futsuka slashed through the waves of the energy, but that gave the attackers a chance to get to his sides, pincering him.
But it was also at that moment that the net Futsuka had thrown up earlier came down, covering a wide area. One might be thinking, how come those two didn’t see Futsuka throwing that net earlier? Well, for the same reason why Futsuka couldn’t tell which attack the enemies would use until they did. The illusions of false appearances also covered your own actions, and Futsuka made full use of that fact.
*thruu...*
"What is this?!"
"Fuck!"
No one could hear those two, but they still cursed. Too bad they couldn’t do anything else.
"Ignite!"
The net burst with powerful flames, a type of flame that was accumulated over time by that special hidden feature from Futsuka’s net. The two experts tried to escape, but they were way too used to fighting with their full strength. Now that they couldn’t use their laws, senses, and had their cultivations suppressed, they failed to get free.
*Shaaaaa!*
In a matter of seconds, both were burnt to crips! Just like everyone else who died, the illusions changing them disappeared, and those around were able to see their dead bodies. It’s just that no one would recognize these two the way they were at the moment anyway.
Futuska touched the net, and it immediately reduced in size, returning to his hand. His eyes still scanned the surroundings as some of his fire element hovered around him. Since there was no Divine Sense, he could only use that to try to feel the surroundings. It wasn’t as good as Divine Sense, but it could be used.
He didn’t stay there, though. He quickly ran away since that net was a type of equipment not too uncommon in the Romuteri Clan. If other Romuteri Clan members saw him, they might guess who he is.
*Pat!*
"Ah!" Yet, before he could even move far, someone put a hand on his shoulder. Sure enough, he lashed out, but the guy simply disappeared until...
*Grab, grab!*
Several roots sprouted from the ground, latching onto his legs.
Even worse, his world went completely dark in the next moment. He didn’t know what was happening, where the enemy was.
*Fuaaa!*
Before he could make sense of anything, he felt a gust of wind from behind.
*tic, tic...*
Out of nowhere, he felt two objects piercing his body. It didn’t hurt that much, though. Everything happened in a split second. Of course, Futsuka wouldn’t wait to see why.
’Moon Whirl!’
His body rotated, and he put even more Divine Energy into his attack. His Fire Element burst out of his body. That attack covered everything around him, and Futsuka only wanted to make sure the enemy would get away. He couldn’t even understand how they got that close to him without affecting his Fire Element around.
He got free from those roots, and his Moon Whirl attack seemed to have forced the enemy back. He didn’t drop his guard, waiting for the next wave. He had to at least find who they were and what they intended to do.
Yet, to his surprise, no attacks followed. He retreated, paying attention to everything, but there was absolutely nothing. ’That makes no sense. Why am I still alive?’ The enemy had caught him so easily, even though he was prepared, but they didn’t give him any fatal injuries, much to his confusion.
---
Back on the altar, the Universe Owners and the kid still observed that free-for-all. The kid then noticed how the twins’ group was working together, and even found Rifindio. But then, he saw something he truly didn’t expect to be possible. ’What?! How did- Oh! I see! Hahahaha! Who could have imagined that my own setup would actually help them to this extent... It is almost unfair. I wonder if this is a result of his mutated bloodline.’
Not too far from Futsuka, Rifindio retreated with Rean and the others. They stopped in a slightly emptier area, the twins’ group looking at Rifindio and pressing his shoulder to use Divine Sense. ’How was it?’
Rifindio nodded, excited. ’It truly works!’
Just now, Rean distracted Futsuka, then Celis held him with his roots, and Roan used his Dark Element to rob Futsuka of his sight. Finally, Kentucky flew behind with Rifindio on his back before Rifindio bit Futsuka with his two fangs, the same ones with the Celestial Laws of Blood.
That was all Rifindio needed, and as expected, the same thing happened. Rifindio was able to steal Futsuka’s Mark without killing him. That was why the kid was so surprised.
Roan didn’t waste time. ’Alright, next.’
