Death... and me

Chapter 3609: Let’s Just Go!

Chapter 3609: Let’s Just Go!

Grititi retreated a little bit so it would look like he was part of their group. When they got to where the other Self-Defense Globes were located, they noticed that everyone was already out of their Globes.

Rean then noticed that as soon as he got here, the Time Manipulation stopped, and it came back to normal. He had no reason to use Light Element anymore.

Naturally, those ahead also noticed the twins’ group arrival. Some surprised eyes followed due to the fact they got here without the use of the Self-Defense Globes. Other due to their cultivation levels. No one tried anything funny, though. By now, they all believed that whoever managed to get this far definitely had their own special cards well hidden. Some dark eyes still glared at Kentucky, though. It wasn’t like they forgot what the bird did.

Rifindio then pointed out through Divine Sense. ’There are twenty-one Camazotz Bats here.’

Rean and Roan didn’t mind, and their group joined the various others. There, they found the Demon Fish called Hian. He, too, noticed the twins’ group arrival. Yet, he didn’t seem surprised at all. Instead, he simply spoke to his companions without hiding his voice. "See? I told you those two were not normal."

Those who had their doubts before nodded. They still could see that the twins’ group cultivation hadn’t changed. Yet, they made it to this place even without the Self-Defense Globes. They decided to pay more attention to them.

The only thing that puzzled Hian a little was that ’new’ expert who joined the twins’ group. Even he couldn’t recognize Grititi anymore.

Hian’s group was the only one here, though. The other two Self-Defense Globes he selected in the previous region and their experts were nowhere to be seen. No doubt they were attacked or fell into the same Time Trap. Well, they weren’t the twins’ group’s problem.

Royer took the front, asking the experts ahead. "Why is everyone gathered here?"

A guy with a Blue Light on his chest smiled. "Who knows? Perhaps we are just taking a rest before continuing."

Royer shrugged, not finding it weird no one wanted to answer. Instead, he and his group walked forward, even passing by the group of Camazotz bats nearby.

Gritit, however, didn’t avert his eyes and showed no reaction. He passed by the Camazotz Bats as if he didn’t know them. Still, they couldn’t tell if Grititi used that chance to contact the Camazotz Bats through Divine Sense, but that wasn’t a problem at the moment.

Besides, Roan had his eyes fixed on the Camazotz Bats. If any of them had shown any reaction, he would have noticed. Of course, perhaps Grititi contacted someone who he was sure wouldn’t show any reaction on the face. If that was the case, even Roan couldn’t do anything.

Further ahead, they saw another one of the portals. Yet, none of the groups dared to approach it, which seemed strange. Some were somewhat close to it, seemingly trying to figure something out. Royer then decided to do the same thing as Roan, taking a Divine Stone out and throwing it ahead.

*Puff!*

As soon as the Divine Stone got within a thirty-meter distance of the portal, it was pulverized! Several snorts came from the experts around. They were all hoping Royer’s group would simply try to enter the portal and die because of that.

"Well, you saw it," Royer spoke.

The twins’ group nodded. They had their Divine Senses spread, so they saw how the Divine Stone got destroyed. For a split second, space warped, and a micro spatial storm came from behind the fabric of space. It targeted the Divine Stone, destroying it instantly.

For Divinity Realm Experts, they were able to fend off Spatial Storms if space hadn’t been messed up way too much. The Spatial Storm just now was nothing to them. Well, nothing to them while they had their full cultivation available to use. Right now, their Transition Realm cultivation made that Spatial Storm one of the most terrifying things they could encounter. None of them would survive it. Thus, no one got close to the portal.

"Not many of them seem to be doing anything regarding the portal," Kentucky commented. "Could it be they are waiting for something?"

The twins’ group looked at Grititi, who shook his head. "Don’t look at me. I told you when we got to this Region. I know nothing about this place."

Roan turned to Hian, the Demon Fish from before. "Can you tell us why everyone is waiting here?"

Hian was taken aback. Why was Roan asking him? "Do you expect me to answer?"

Roan nodded. "Since I give you the creeps, it wouldn’t be a bad choice to get on my good side, don’t you think?"

Hian and his companions wondered if Roan could be any more shameless. "You say that, but I already left you behind once."

"Oh, that? I don’t blame you for that," Roan shook his head. "So, how will it be?"

Hian felt like he couldn’t follow Roan’s intention but decided to answer in the end. "Alright. It’s not a secret anyway since everyone here is doing the same thing. We are waiting. That’s just it."

"Just waiting?" Roan tried to understand. "For what? Some event?"

"Possibly?" Hian couldn’t confirm with certainty. "We were one of the first groups to arrive, thanks to our Self-Defense Globe. We tried everything to see if we could get through the portal, but nothing worked. The next teams arrived one after another, but it was all for nothing. And forget about the Globes. As soon as we got here, they stopped working completely. Some even tried to throw the globe at the portal, but it was pulverized, just like the Divine Stone you guys threw earlier."

"That said, we are waiting while a few are still trying to figure out what to do. The consensus is that we need to gather enough experts in this place for something to happen, just like it was back in the Molten Ocean Region."

Indeed, to activate the Self-Defense Globes, one needed exactly 30 experts. Perhaps this was the same case, and they just didn’t have enough experts to continue.

"Seems like we can only wait as well..." Elsie sighed.

"Wait? Why?" Rean had other plans, very different ones. "Let’s just go already!"

Elsie felt like she was seeing a Déjà-vu. ’Didn’t he say exactly the same thing back in the lake?’
