Chapter 3503: Seeing the Same
"You can’t change the Database?!" Qwerty was shocked to hear that. "Then, what did they just-" At that moment, Qwerty looked at the box they were carrying.
"So you noticed. Hahaha!" Rean patted the box as they moved within the Zoshia Enterprise Building. "We obviously have no way of connecting to the servers and making those changes to the Database. The security of the system is too tight for our device here to hack into."
"However," Rean continued, "the same can’t be said of the signal used by the SANS Units to connect to it."
Turns out that the ’database’ the SANS Units just read was not the real database. Instead, it was a fake database that Rean and Zangeshu’s box carried. But then you might ask, how did the fake database even have the right list to start with? After all, since Rean fooled the SANS Units, he must have at least seen the real list of Units allowed in the building first. Only then would Rean be able to make a change, removing SANS82E195 and adding Rean and Qwerty instead. The rest of the list had to be identical to the real thing, and that list is inside the server, so they shouldn’t be able to see it.
"Oh! The answer to that was actually SANS82E195 himself," Rean explained as they walked through the corridors.
All SANS Units in the building had to be in the database’s list of allowed Units. And to see the database, they must connect to it. Rean and his box obviously couldn’t connect to the Database, so how could he change it? He couldn’t, but he could intercept the information before it reached the SANS Robot.
That’s why Rean and Qwerty were found so fast by the very first SANS Unit patrolling the building. Rean wanted to be found, a plan he and Zangeshu devised while they built the box. They first made it look like SANS82E195 was in the wrong or at least made him doubt himself. After all, the SANS Units weren’t just robots anymore that followed directives blindly, they had sentience!
Sure enough, SANS82E195 immediately connected to the database to retrieve the list of SANS Units that were supposed to be in the building, especially since Rean seemed pretty convincing when he said SANS82E195 wasn’t supposed to be there. At that moment, the box intercepted that returning signal to SANS82E195, and Zangeshu, inside the Dimensional Realm, made the changes.
When SANS82E195 finally received the signal with the ’database’ list, SANS82E195’s ID wasn’t there anymore. Instead, Rean and Qwerty’s numbers were there. The same happened to all the SANS Units that arrived at the scene straight away. They connected to the database, but instead of receiving the signal, what they received was the box’s altered file.
Using that method, Rean and Qwerty made their way to the servers. Finally, they arrived at the entrance, but it had several more verification features that had to be passed before both of could gain access.
Yet, there was absolutely no reason to worry at all. There was one last thing that the box helped Rean and Qwerty with. Rean knew the database list, even if he couldn’t access it to see it directly. In that list, you could also find the SANS Units with the highest authority in the Zoshia Enterprise Building, including the ones with access to the servers.
Rean had already used the box, which had the same capability of creating and copying identities for the Werdlem Empire System, to copy SANS Units’ IDs instead. He then selected two SANS Units from that list, SANSUI9991324 and...
’Hum? SANS-G01?’ Rean noticed that name. The SANS-G Units were those Roan called Space-Time Units. The same ones that used the cores and dantians of living being experts.
In the list, Rean found eight SANS-G Units, starting from SANS-G01 to 08. Outside, Roan was fighting seven SANS-G Units, which made Rean wonder where the last SANS-G was located. However, he quickly shook his head. The priority was to get Qwerty into the server room and have him connected to it, finding that last SANS-G Unit wasn’t his job. Of course, he made sure to send that information to Roan before continuing what he was doing since it could be done instantaneously.
Thus, other than SANSUI9991324, he also selected SANSYT633321P9. Yes, he didn’t take a SANS-G identity, as it would be too risky. Also, he selected two Units that weren’t supposed to be in the server room at that moment. Otherwise, it would be weird if the same signal tried to enter the server room twice.
Using that identity, the security measures were deactivated one by one, allowing Rean and Qwerty to get through. They finally entered the Server room, which was surprisingly small. Inside, they could see a tiny gray box with some strange light patterns over it. It reminded Rean of the light patterns of all the robots, including Qwerty.
Other than that, however, there were quite a few SANS Units there. Various terminals seemed to be attached to the small box, even if not physically, and the SANS Units in front of those terminals were attached to the equipment through cables coming out of their bodies. It was very similar to the cable that Qwerty used to open the lock earlier. None of the SANS Units there seemed to have noticed Rean and Qwerty’s arrival either, as if they were unaware of the surroundings.
"Alright, let’s go to an empty terminal," Rean said, and at the same time, he checked Roan’s memories about the happenings outside. It had been twenty minutes since he and Qwerty started their infiltration. Outside, the first five Space-Time SANS Units were attacking the elders and the CAU Army while Roan’s group and the others held their position as best as they could. Then, Rean saw how the last two Space-Time SANS Units teleported inside Celis’s Domain Range. "We don’t have much time. Try it now."
Qwerty nodded and quickly pointed at the terminal in front of him. A cable came out of his finger, connecting to an entrance in that control panel. At that moment, Qwerty also became unresponsive, just like all the other SANS Units in that place.
However, Qwerty was also connected to the box Rean brought, and that allowed Rean and Zangeshu to see what Qwerty could see, even if they couldn’t connect themselves.
