Chapter 3458: A Step Further
Kentucky swallowed hard. "Well... when I appeared here, I couldn’t feel our connection anymore. It was like it was cut."
"So the first thing you did was to find another Divine Tree, uh?" Celis asked closely. "Do you have any sense of loyalty at all?"
Rean found that funny, but he knew Kentucky had a good reason for it, so he helped. "Celis, you have to understand we didn’t even know whether we could have you come here. We genuinely thought we wouldn’t see you and the Lisan Universe for the thousands of years to come. Naturally, Kentucky needed a new partner to help with the cultivation side."
Kentucky nodded vigorously. "Exactly! Or could it be you also didn’t go look for another Divine Demon Bird while I was out?"
"I didn’t!" Celis crossed his arms with confidence. "But I guess I will accept the fact you guys didn’t know if you could come back or not. Very well, let’s get rid of it."
Immediately, Celis’ energy came out of his body, entering Kentucky’s. There, he found the connection made by the pact. Usually, two pacts weren’t possible to be made. Kentucky only succeeded in making another one because Celis was truly too far for the first pact to take effect. Now that Celis was here, two pacts could be found within Kentucky.
It didn’t last long, though. Celis easily found the second pact, snorting. "Get the fuck out of here!"
Kentucky felt like something snapped in his very soul, and in the next moment, the pact he had with Ridia was destroyed. "You can do that?"
"Hmph!" Celis snorted in response. "Do you know why two pacts can’t be done? Because one will reject the other. Even if I hadn’t done anything, the weaker pact would eventually break and disappear. I only accelerated the process. Our pact has been strengthened for many years, so how could that Ridia or whatever she was called be compared to the pact between us? It was easy."
---
Back in the Qlonvi Continent, Ridia felt the moment the pact was ended, opening her eyes wide and looking in a certain direction. However, she sighed in the end and looked away. Roan and Kentucky told her that it was possible to happen, and it really did. That also meant their Divine Tree Friend must have arrived. ’It changes nothing! I will definitely go to the Divine Realm one day...’ And so she resumed whatever she was doing at that moment.
---
"Alright, it is done, let’s go," Celis walked forward, but he gave Kentucky one last glance. "Next time, it won’t be over this easily. It is a question of honor between Divine Demon Trees! Remember that."
Kentucky didn’t know anything about this honor between Divine Demon Trees, but he accepted it anyway. "Sure... even if we end in different Universes, I won’t do it again."
"You better not," Celis reinforced.
"Celis," Rean took the opportunity to end that topic there, bringing up a new one. "What did you mean by being close to the Celestial Realm? Were you really that close?"
"Sigh..." Celis felt even sadder after hearing that. "It was like this..." And then he explained what he and Huban were talking about.
Kentucky, Rean, and even Roan felt sorry for Celis. That indeed seemed a great chance that they made him lose. But then again, how could they have guessed Celis was having such an important exchange at that very moment? It was almost as if it was predetermined, inevitable to happen.
Still, Roan knew there was no point dwelling on what was already lost. "Alright, let’s go back to the part that really matters. Celis, we did it all so we could bring you here and help us cultivate. We intend to visit the Glacial Corridor and find out if there is an entrance to the Underworld There."
"Oh!" Roan’s words immediately reminded Celis of something. "Then I guess I can make your work much easier." Following that, Celis accessed his own Pocket Dimensional Realm, bringing out a strange device in ring form. At its center, a dark crystal floated, being held by a type of energy Roan knew very well.
"Hum? Death Energy?" Roan asked, feeling the energy with his Divine Sense.
Celis nodded, proceeding to tell him about it. "You know how the Temporal Path was almost the only way to travel between the Heavens, Realm of Gods, and Underworld, right?"
Everyone nodded, and they waited for Celis to continue. "Well, after the war was over, all the Semi-Celestials decided that they couldn’t continue like that. What if something happened and they needed support from each other? Even worse, what if they needed support, but the Temporal Path wasn’t accessible?"
"Ah!" Kentucky quickly remembered. "That’s right, they were working on something to resolve that problem while I was still there. It’s just that no solution had been found until the day I was dragged here."
"Exactly," Celis confirmed. "Well, a long time passed, and they finally came up with something. This is a Pseudo Temporal Path Strengthening device."
Back in the Lisan Universe, there were indeed other much smaller temporal paths. The problem was that not only were those small paths very unstable, but they usually didn’t last long, with the best ones lasting a few hundred years at most. Those paths could appear anywhere, although they weren’t easy to find. The twins used one of those paths to go to the other side of the Universe where Cultivation Energies didn’t exist, for example.
In fact, what Roan thought was that something similar existed in the Glacial Corridor on both sides, especially after confirming those decaying ice runes had the properties of the Underworld.
Celis continued. "This device not only can strengthen those small paths, it can also fix them in place. Simply put, they can make those smaller paths last forever as long as their energies don’t run out. This is just one of such devices. But, above all, the best part of these devices is their detection ability. As long as a Pseudo Temporal Path exists nearby, it can detect it."
Roan grabbed the device, feeling the Death Energy in the crystal and the ring. "Kafan was the one to develop this one, right? I can feel his Death Energy."
"Yes," Celis nodded. "Well, not only him but various other experts and formations masters. For the Heavens, obviously, Life Energy was used to create similar devices. Now, our Lisan Universe has many, many different routes that can be used to travel between the Underworld, Heavens, and Realm of Gods. We truly went a step further to protect ourselves."
