Jayce brought up the quest window, a small smile making its way to his lips. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing a hard fought quest fully completed. Without much fanfare, he accepted the reward.
A large window popped up, startling him for a moment.
[Please select 1 of the below unique skills]
Thundering Fist of Heaven:
Description: This skill channels the character’s inner energy to deliver a single, catastrophic blow that reverberates with the force of nature itself. The character’s fist becomes a conduit for a powerful surge of energy, and upon impact, a shockwave emanates, creating a localized seismic event that incapacitates foes within a radius. The impact not only inflicts heavy physical damage but also disrupts enemy formations, leaving them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. The execution of this skill requires immense inner strength, control over energy flow, and a heightened awareness of the battlefield.
Divine Reckoning Slash:
Description: With unparalleled precision and swiftness, the player performs a series of perfectly timed slashes that target vital points on the opponent’s body. Each strike is aimed to disable or weaken the opponent’s mobility, strength, or defenses, dealing devastating damage to both physical health and stamina. This skill requires a deep understanding of anatomy, impeccable timing, and exceptional swordsmanship.
Reroll?
Jayce meticulously read through the skill descriptions, his focus unswerving. He was relieved to see that both options were offensive skills, a crucial need in his arsenal. However, neither skill seemed tailor-made for his approach.
The Thundering Fist of Heaven, while exuding an awe-inspiring aura, struck him as almost fantastical, something ripped from the pages of an epic. But its impracticality in distinguishing allies from enemies rendered it unsuitable for his role, which didn’t usually place him at the forefront of battle. This type of skill would be better suited for someone like Colin, whose position on the frontlines demanded such raw power.
Regrettably, the non-transferable nature of these skills ruled out the possibility of giving Colin the skill, effectively turning him into an unstoppable juggernaut. Discarding the first option, Jayce’s attention turned to the Divine Reckoning Slash.
This skill seemed to align more with his inherent fighting style, reminiscent of his combat experience before his regression. Yet, his current physical form had not undergone the same rigorous training. While his mind retained a decade’s worth of swordsmanship knowledge, his body was inexperienced. It was a frustrating paradox.
His brows knitted together in contemplation. The second skill appeared to demand a prolonged period of practice—perhaps even a year—to wield effectively. Jayce weighed his choices, torn between immediate impact and long-term growth. Doubts clouded his judgment, and he leaned toward a more immediate advantage.
“Damn, I think i’ll just Reroll.” he muttered to himself, selecting the option.
[You have selected Reroll?]
[Congratulations, skill Reroll? Has been learned]
Jayce’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief, his jaw threatening to unhinge. He blinked, then blinked again, hoping the words before him would change. Yet, they remained steadfast, etched onto the screen as a bizarre truth.
His initial confusion ripened into a mixture of astonishment and incredulity. “Wait, what? Reroll? is a skill?” he muttered to himself, his voice a blend of bewilderment and disbelief. He felt his heart race, his mind scrambling to process this unforeseen revelation.
The campfire crackled softly outside his tent, its warm glow dancing against the fabric walls. Inside, Jayce sat, his gaze fixed on the words in front of him, his thoughts racing in an attempt to comprehend the unexpected turn of events. He had been under the assumption that Reroll? was a choice—a simple option to reconsider his current skill choices.
Jayce was visibly shaking, he tried to swallow, however his mouth was dry. Pulling a canteen of fresh water out of his inventory, he downed as much as he could, trying to relieve the anxiety from within him.
When he had finally calmed down, he opened up his skills:
Basic Cooking (lvl. 6) – Allows the creation of simple dishes with minor beneficial effects.
Ingredient Analysis (lvl. 6) – Ability to discern the properties and quality of ingredients.
Taste Enhancement (lvl. 6) – Enhances the flavor and nutritional value of prepared dishes.
Nimble Fingers (passive) – Nimble Fingers is a natural-born dexterity that empowers its user with unparalleled manual finesse and agility. Those with this skill possess hands that move with an almost otherworldly grace and precision, allowing them to accomplish intricate tasks and manipulations with ease.
Rallying Cry (lvl. 1) – This cry inspires allies, granting a significant boost of 10% to all their stats for a duration of 10 minutes
Reroll (max): <blank>
VIP15 (max) – Your luck is increased. Small chance of converting temporary stat boosts to permanent
Executive Chef (passive): As a faction leader, you are in charge of your kitchen and your staff. Your staff will share your temporary and permanent buffs, so long as they are within 100 meters of you.
“No description?” The anxious feeling began to grow within him, mixed with despair. Before he could continue to wallow in his own destitution, a voice called out from outside his tent.
“Hey Leader, it’s me.” The deep voice of Colin drifted in, interrupting his thoughts. “Jackie told me to remind you to check if you got a drop from the Alpha Wolf Boss.”
“Ah, I forgot to look sorry.” Jayce replied, a little flustered. He had been so focused on the interaction with Rubick and the World Quest that he hadn’t even checked what drop he received from the Boss.
Colin chuckled, “Don’t worry about it too much, show us in the morning.” With that, the sound of footsteps trailed away, leaving Jayce alone in his tent once again.
After Colin’s prompting, he decided to not think about his new skill with no description. It was time to check out the spoils of war, if it was anything like their last few Epic items then he would be in for a treat.
