Chapter 53: Bloodfang Wolves (1)

A sudden surge of strength entered everyone’s bodies as Jayce refreshed his Executive Chef skill, increasing their stats tremendously. The trio of Colin, Ben and Paul let out a roar, diving into the battles with renewed ferocity.

Amidst the chaotic symphony of clashing blades, snarling beasts, and the adrenaline-soaked shouts of the party, the initial five wolves finally succumbed to the relentless onslaught of steel. As their adversaries lay lifeless on the forest floor, the party continued to be on high alert, waiting for the next wave of bloodthirsty wolves.

As if on cue, another wave of ferocious Bloodfang Wolves charged forth from the shadows, a renewed savagery in their crimson eyes. Their malevolent determination was mirrored by the ominous line of reinforcements gathering behind them, eager to join the fray.

The front line once again clashed with the assaulting wolves, each combatant testing their mettle against the other. Blades met fangs, and Jayce’s team displayed a well-coordinated dance of offense and defense. Yet, the wolves were relentless, and the frontline eventually began to show signs of fatigue. Their once-unyielding formation began to falter as the wolves’ sheer numbers tested their stamina and focus.

Recognizing the need to shift tactics, Jayce gestured for the mages to join the battle. Amber and Jackie unleashed ranged attacks over the frontline’s heads, fiery projectiles and arcane spells arcing through the night sky. These barrages struck true, felling some of the wolves that were unable to reach the front line due to the cramped space.

However, the chaos was unrelenting. Paul, who had been holding his own with remarkable skill, was suddenly caught off guard as a wolf’s maw clamped around his arm, sending him to the ground with the wolf standing over him. The breach in the frontline was almost exploited, a momentary lapse that could have spelled disaster for the party.

In an instant, Jayce sprang into action, his instincts driving him forward. With swift determination, he closed the gap, plunging his sashimi knife into the soft underbelly of the offending wolf. The creature’s howl of pain reverberated through the night as Jayce’s intervention saved Paul from further harm.

Lianna moved with ethereal grace, her healing magic weaving through the air as she knelt beside the wounded warrior. The wounds mended and Paul’s strength returned, gratitude radiating from his eyes as he nodded his thanks. Rising to his feet, he rejoined the frontline, his spirit unbroken.

The battle raged on furiously, each swing of a blade, each conjured spell, each deflected attack a testament to the party’s resilience. The wolves’ corpses began to pile up at the entrance of the Ice Dome, hindering both sides with the obstacle. Wolves were forced to climb on the corpses of their brethren, causing a macabre sight.

With the wolves on top of their felled pack mates, their already large stature was made even more apparent, forcing their weight down on the frontline and creating havoc for Colin and the others. With a strategic eye, Jayce saw the need to clear the field, lest they be overrun.

“Colin! Shield Bash!” Jayce’s voice cut through the chaos, his gaze locking onto the towering Guardian. Colin understood instantly, a determined nod preceding his powerful charge. With a colossal roar, he brought his platinum kite shield crashing into the heap of wolf corpses.

The impact sent the grisly mound hurtling backward, including the live wolves atop it. The frontline breathed a temporary sigh of relief as the obstacle was removed, allowing them to regroup. Jayce’s eyes now turned to Amber.

“Amber! Torch the bodies!” Jayce’s command was met with unwavering focus. Amber channeled her mana, conjuring a massive fireball that erupted upon impact, engulfing the pile of corpses in searing flames. The scent of roasted wolf meat soon pervaded the forest, an unexpected fragrance born from the heat of battle.

The next 5 minutes felt like they lasted an eternity. Despite having superhuman strength and endurance, the party were starting to falter and make mistakes, yet there were no signs of it ending. Jayce had lost count of how many bloodfang wolves they had killed.

As the battle reached a fever pitch, the party squeezed out all they could, resisting the relentless onslaught of the bloodfang wolves. Their unity and determination were inspiring, a testament to their growth and resilience in the face of adversity. Each wolf that fell marked a hard-fought victory, a result of their strength and perseverance.

Yet, as the party stood united against the overwhelming odds, a sudden and monstrous disruption shattered the very ground beneath them. A deafening crash echoed through the forest as the once-secure Ice Dome shattered, leaving a gaping entrance behind them.

From this breach emerged a figure that dwarfed the wolves around it, a colossal and blood-red behemoth that commanded immediate attention. The Alpha Bloodfang Wolf, standing at an imposing five meters in height, its muscles coiled with raw power and its eyes gleaming with an intelligence that belied its animal nature.

Its fur was a deep and rich shade of crimson, dark as fresh blood, contrasting starkly with the pallor of the moonlit night. Scars marred its powerful form, a testament to battles past and the dominance it had established over its kin. Its fangs, each longer than a man’s hand, glistened with a malevolent hunger.

The air seemed to thicken as the Alpha Bloodfang Wolf let out a chilling howl, a sound that pierced through the night like a blade of ice. The mournful cry carried an air of command, resonating through the forest and instilling a sense of despair within the hearts of Jayce’s party.

Time seemed to slow as the party turned to face the newfound threat. The snarling wolves that had been furiously assaulting them grew even more relentless, their eyes shining with bloodlust and forcing the front line to redouble their efforts.

Zane, who had been positioned closer to the back, stood frozen in place, his eyes locked onto the towering figure that had emerged.
