Chapter 254: Childish
Colin took the plate out of Jayce’s hands after making up his mind. He looked down upon the Baozi which actually looked delicious, before gulping loudly.
“Thanks for the meal.” He said, gingerly picking up a steamed bun and bringing it to his mouth.
Jayce’s face imperceptibly changed to one of satisfaction just as Colin was about to take bite, the picture of someone who had succeeded in their ploy.
The moment Colin bit down, a deafening crunch sounded out within the square, instantly putting an end to the chatter between everyone. They all turned their heads to the source of the sound.
Colin who just felt as if he bit into solid metal, let out a small cry of pain before holding out his hand. A moment later, a solitary tooth fell from his mouth and rolled into his palm.
He looked dumbstruck as he inspected the foreign object hidden within the soft dough of the steamed bun. It was in fact a piece of sheet metal, however it was not just any regular sheet metal.
Jayce had rerolled a few times until it was of epic grade, giving it a ridiculous hardness which would be difficult for even a bullet to pierce, let alone something as fragile as teeth.
Colin raised his gaze only to see Jayce smiling widely at him. Due to their close proximity, the big man could see that Jayce was also missing a couple of teeth towards the back of his mouth.
Suddenly the puzzle pieces finally moved into place, painting the whole picture. Jayce wasn’t pissed off about the altercation yesterday, he was pissed that he was now missing some teeth thanks to having his face pummeled in.
“HAHAHA!” Colin lifted his head back and laughed heartily, feeling a deep sense of relief overcome him. Now that he knew that Jayce did not blame him, he was feeling carefree.
While Colin may have figured out the inner machinations of their exchange, those in the surroundings were deeply puzzled. For what reason would the big man laugh so hard about losing a tooth?
“You son of a bitch, you had me worried there for a while.” Colin beamed, his dazzling smile now missing one of its pearly whites. He walked over to Jayce and pulled him into an embrace.
Now satisfied that all accounts had been balanced, Jayce did not resist the hug, sending a few fake punches into the man’s stomach and laughing along with him. They were now arm in arm acting as if nothing had happened.
Lianna and Jackie suddenly felt embarrassed, watching as the two horsed around. Jackie in particular was mortified at the giant gap in her man’s once handsome smile.
“Please tell me you can fix it Lianna.” Jackie pleaded, grabbing her hands out of desperation.
The thought of having to look at that stupid grin for the rest of her life brought her close to despair.
Lianna looked at Jackie’s dramatic reaction and stifled a laugh. Despite the action being petty, she actually found it to be quite amusing after she got over the second hand embarrassment of the two making a fool of themselves.
“Don’t worry, I should be able to fix it if he keeps the tooth. Problem is, you’ll have to convince those two.” She motioned with her head to the pair of Colin and Jayce who were still playing around.
Hearing those words, Jackie wasted no time, storming over to the two with a stern expression.
“Colin. Come here, Lianna is going to put your tooth back in.” She said, grabbing him by the arm.
Colin frowned, his face turning up into an expression Jackie knew well; Stubbornness. Before he had a chance to say what he was going to, she burst into a rage.
“I’m not taking no for an answer Mr. You get your ass over here right now before I give her more teeth to replace.” Jackie’s anger overflowed, making those in attendance imagine seeing smoke puffing out of her ears.
Colin could only look at Jayce with a fearful expression, hoping that he could say some words for him. However, Jackie turned to Jayce first with a dangerous expression.
“You have no complaints… right leader?”
Jayce felt a dangerous pressure coming from the petite woman in front of him. It was as if he was standing in front of an active volcano which was threatening to erupt and delete him from existence.
Despite the fact that Jayce was easily the stronger one, he knew when to pick his battles. He quickly cleared his throat and gave his reply, wanting nothing more to do with the rampaging woman.
“Ahem. Good idea, you look ridiculous Colin.”
With that, he quickly scurried away back to his place in the kitchen, putting on the next batch of Baozi before she could respond.
Just like that, a petite woman managed to have both the Leader and Vice-Leader back down from her with just a few words. Colin was dragged back to Lianna who quickly replaced the recently lost tooth and used her Law of Nature to heal it.
Thanks to the tooth being whole and the fact that it had only just fallen out, she was able to replace it rather quickly, unlike in Jayce’s case.
There were a few people in the crowd that found the scene incredulous, yet most just found the situation funny, especially those who had been there since the club in the city.
Not long later, Jayce announced that the food was ready. Everyone was given 4 steamed buns, which meant that he and Tony had made at least 800 within a short amount of time.
Everyone came forward and received their food before heading into their smaller groups and continuing to chat. By now the sun had already risen quite a way, casting a gorgeous glow upon the peaceful scene below.
Jayce himself grabbed his own food and went to join his party members. That was when he saw Zane sitting by himself against a wall of a building.
