Chapter 147: Daddy’s Home
Hearing the maddened roars coming from the cavern, Jayce knew that he was in deep shit. The adrenaline that was coursing through his veins from the earlier altercation with the Adult Draconic Panther was still fresh, causing his hand holding the Bloodfang Dagger to twitch slightly.
It was time to go all out, otherwise he would die under the onslaught of 20 plus pissed off monsters. He quickly distributed the 100 free stat points he had received from the completion of the Event quest, this time putting 50 into vitality and 50 into dexterity.
His reasoning was that he would need a higher endurance and health points if he was about to be attacked from all sides. The extra dexterity would give him more control over his body and a better chance in dodging the plethora of attacks that he was sure to receive.
“Domain.”
At those words, dark flames erupted from his body and traveled throughout the tunnels and into the cavern. Cries of surprise entered his ears, causing a small smile to form on Jayce’s face. The dim light of his dark flames cast a sinister light on his visage, giving him a macabre appearance.
“Dinner Rush.”
Jayce suddenly felt his body explode with power, his muscles stretched and contorted, trying to contain the awesome might that coursed through his very being. Were it not for the hardiness of his new tier 4 class equipment, it would have likely been torn apart from the pressure exerted on it from within.
He took a few seconds to adjust to his newfound strength, suddenly feeling refreshed. It was almost as if he was from one of those Anime’s his late father used to tell him about when he was younger, after they powered up significantly.
He shook his head suddenly, wondering why he was thinking about his father right now. Jayce calmly walked out of the tunnels and faced the open cavern, wearing a cocky expression. He quickly took note of the layout inside the cavern.
It was an open area with a pillar of stone in the middle which ran from the ground all the way to the ceiling. There were naturally formed stone bridges which ran from the pillar to the edges of the cavern which led to caves that had been seemingly carved into the walls.
A quick glimpse was enough to take in his surroundings and commit them to memory. He then faced the over 20 sets of eyes which were glaring at him with hatred, seemingly wanting to rip his head off and eat it.
“Daddy’s home.” Jayce said mockingly.
The Beasts did not seem to like what he said, growling in response to his words. One Draconic Panther which was around the same size as the first teen he had slain was especially furious, gnashing its teeth together in unbridled anger.
Perhaps it was the offspring of the adult Panther he had just slain. Jayce paused for a moment before titling his head back and laughing, “Oh shit, sorry I didn’t mean it like that. Your Daddy is definitely dead.”
At those words the teen Panther rushed at him at full speed, unfurling its wings and reaching breakneck speed in an instant. It opened its maw, attempting to bite his head off cleanly, its sharp teeth gleaming from the combination of the light flowers and Jayce’s domain hellfire.
Jayce merely watched on with a deadpan expression, he could see every movement of the Panther as if it were moving in slow motion. He tilted his head to the left, narrowly avoiding the gaping maw of the Beast before raising his Dagger and piercing it through its throat.
The inertia of the large beast sent it straight past Jayce, causing the dagger which was still stabbed in its throat to cut the whole length of its body. When the teen Panther landed, all of its entrails spilled out as it gasped for air painfully.
Jayce had killed the beast without moving his feet. He stood calmly and shook the excess blood that had remained on his dagger, his gaze moving around the cavern as if to ask who was next?
The Draconic Panther’s looked at the scary human in front of them, a deep sense of fear assaulting their senses. It wasn’t until the 3 remaining Adult Panther’s walked to the forefront and confronted the threat, that the atmosphere calmed down.
However, this time Jayce did not allow the Panther’s to attack first. He may have been able to take down a single teen monster whilst staying in place, but the same could not be said for 3 fully grown adults. His muscles contracted as he kicked off the ground, instantly appearing next to another teen Panther.
Before anyone could react, he thrust his dagger down on top of the beast’s head, his overwhelming strength breaking through the scales and tough skull with ease. The dagger hit with such force that there was almost no resistance, splitting the head in two.
It all happened too fast. They had lost sight of the human in an instant, only to hear the sound of his dagger piercing the skull of one of their kin. However, it wasn’t just that he was too fast, they were also sluggish for some reason, adding to their peril.
Jayce appeared once again next to another teen, readying his Bloodfang Dagger to reap another life. Yet a loud growl rang out from behind him, filled with rage and indignation. Its head was larger than Jayce’s body, even more so when it opened its large maw.
A sly smirk formed on his features as he faced the deadly attack before he suddenly disappeared into the shadows. The large maw of the Draconic Panther closed, snapping together with an eerie sound, yet there were no screams of pain, nor the sound of flesh being pierced by teeth.
The Adult Panther looked around in confusion, trying to locate the human which it had just been about to devour. When it turned around to look at its peers, their faces fell causing the Panther to quickly turn around, yet it was too late.
