The chain of command was still unclear to Lord Rsi, but Lord Enforcer clarified it.
"[The Emperor declared Lord Blue Shaman as the Royal Guards' equal]," Lord Enforcer exclaimed, pieces of food occasionally escaping his broad mouth. "[His domain includes but isn't limited to Baoway, Hililles, Vuter, and Senerth]."
A trace of shock flashed in Lord Rsi's eyes before a sense of duty replaced it. He quickly stood up, performing a traditional bow with his cape to properly greet the Empire's new Lord.
"[Lord Blue Shaman]," Lord Rsi announced. "[It would be my honor]."
Afterward, Lord Rsi dropped the pleasantries and sat on the other side of Khan's table. He didn't look unhappy about Khan's promotion, but some stiffness still affected his exhausted body. Khan wanted to address it, but the Royal Guards didn't give him the time.
"[So, Lord Blue Shaman]," Lord Blind Sword called, digging his bare hand into a deep bowl." [You survived]."
"[Blue did far more than that]," Lord Mighty laughed. "[He broke my nose twice and destroyed the arena. Even Old Envoy had to intervene at some point]."
"[Lord Idiot Muscles is correct]," Lord Enforcer added, knowing Lord Blind Sword wouldn't trust Lord Mighty otherwise.
Khan was too captured by Lord Enforcer's poor table manners to mind Lord Blind Sword's curiosity. The Thilku didn't bother much about that, but the Royal Guard remained the worst of the bunch, which was oddly hilarious considering his machine-like behavior.
"[Ah]!" Lord Blind Sword cried, slamming his scabbard to the floor. "[I missed it].""[Want to see it, Lord Blind Sword]?" Khan asked, showing his dirty and mangled left hand before summoning some mana. His fingers released faint trails of purple-red energy, but flashes of brighter light occasionally captured them, resembling sparks hidden by dark clouds.
"[The Emperor didn't authorize additional fights]," Lord Enforcer commented, still focusing on the food.
"[Old Envoy, did you record it]?" Lord Blind Sword asked.
"[Certainly]," Lord Envoy confirmed. "[Do you wish me to transfer it now]?"
"[Yes, go for it]," Lord Blind Sword exclaimed, retracting his hands from the table and focusing.
Khan also retracted his mangled hand to study the scene. Mana flared inside Lord Envoy's bald head before teleporting away, reappearing inside Lord Blind Sword's brain. That foreign energy dispersed without releasing any destructive power, and Lord Blind Sword easily absorbed it.
After a few seconds, Lord Blind Sword set his scabbard straight, pushing it on the floor as if trying to lift himself. Nothing similar happened, but the thumb on its guardless handle tensed, clearly wanting to unsheathe the blade.
"[What curious shape, Blue]!" Lord Blind Sword exclaimed. "[Do you think it can survive my sword]?"
Khan didn't know how much Lord Blind Sword had seen. He only noticed that the Royal Guard had also switched to the nickname decided by Lord Mighty. Still, the scene gave Khan enough clues to guess that Lord Envoy had transferred his memories through his unique ability.
"[I'd like to see if your blade can survive my attacks, too]," Khan responded, sharing the Royal Guard's interest.
"[Lord Blind Sword's blade can survive Lord Blue attacks]," Lord Enforcer stepped in. " [Probably]."
Lord Blind Sword's blindfold couldn't hide his surprise at Lord Enforcer's uncertainness, but Lord Mighty suddenly laughed, appearing proud about something.
"[What's there to be happy about]?" Lord Blind Sword snorted. "[You let Blue play with you for most of the battle]."
"[I was having fun]," Lord Mighty explained. "[What? Were you worried about me]?"
"[Blue, please]," Lord Blind Sword called. "[Kill this waste of mana next time so the Emperor can find a replacement]."
"[Lord Blind Sword would be the first to exact revenge]," Lord Enforcer said.
"[Blind Sword truly is the softest Royal Guard]," Lord Mighty mocked.
"[Lord Idiot Muscles is correct]," Lord Enforcer commented, seemingly teasing Lord Blind Sword.
"[Don't let his dumbness affect you, Blue]," Lord Blind Sword warned. "[His senses are truly useless, unlike ours]."
"[Can you feel mine, Blind Sword]?" Khan questioned, switching to a more friendly title to get revenge for the simple "Blue".
"[It's hard not to feel them]," Lord Blind Sword revealed. "[Your thoughts are screaming, angry about everything. I wish I could use them to sharpen my sword]."
"[We can spar whenever you want]," Khan announced, ignoring how deep Lord Blind Sword's words had been.
"[You don't hate me, Blue]," Lord Blind Sword declared. "[You like us and the Empire. That anger isn't for me to face]."
Khan couldn't say he liked being read like an open book. Yet, he had nothing to hide anymore, either. Khan had come clean about the scarlet eyes with the Royal Guards. With his deepest secret exposed, he could think and act without restraint. Moreover, Lord Blind Sword was right, but someone promptly ruined his moment.
"[Is Blind Sword ill]?" Lord Mighty asked. "[What's this stuff about thoughts? Who's screaming]?"
"[Free me of your idiotic presence already]," Lord Blind Sword sighed.
"[But you'd be sad without me]," Lord Mighty commented, still confused about the previous
topic.
"[Lord Idiot Muscles is correct]," Lord Enforcer added, and Lord Mighty didn't miss that chance to point his derisive smile at Lord Blind Sword.
"[On that point, Lord Blue Shaman]," Lord Envoy called. The usually silent Royal Guard had only focused on eating, ignoring the banter, so hearing him speak attracted everyone's
attention.
"[You are now officially part of the Empire]," Lord Envoy declared. "[Your actions are the Empire's actions. Your words are the Empire's words. Your power is the Empire's power]." Lord Envoy's words could be easily misunderstood, but Khan didn't. The Emperor had made those points clear, so Khan knew the Royal Guard wanted to speak about something else.
"[The news of your Lordship will shake the Global Army and its ruling class]," Lord Envoy continued. "[Baoway technically belongs to both humankind and Empire, but the Empire now sees you as its sole ruler]."
"[I'll handle that part]," Khan stated. "[I'll handle everything, one way or another]."
"[You might receive the hatred of your former species]," Lord Envoy commented. Maybe it was his old age, but his warning felt genuine and warm as if it was coming from a concerned
senior.
"[I can take humankind hatred]," Khan reassured. "[I can take everyone's hatred. There's no limit to how much I can bear to complete my mission]."
Khan had spoken from the bottom of his heart, expressing a virtue that came from his mind's dark core. It was precisely because he could endure anything that he could accept everyone, seeing no differences among species, arts, and mindsets.
