Chaos Heir

Chapter 1018: Lord Special Emissary

It made sense for the Emperor to want Khan. The former was an existence driven and fueled by war, and Khan had offered him the greatest of them all.

The Emperor had probably already made up his mind back in the Royal Palace. He only had to confirm whether Khan wielded the power to bring that war home, and the battle against Lord Mighty had cleared any doubt. Lordships, domains, and everything else were secondary as long as the Emperor could get his hands on the conflict against the scarlet eyes.

Ethical problems littered that offer, but both Khan and the Emperor were beyond mundane beliefs. The former had done his fair share of shady things, and his newly summoned darkness made him ready for much more.

As for the Emperor, his whole species was built on endless expansion, growth through battles, and pride from strength. Khan didn't know which came first, but the Emperor was basically doing the Empire a favor by adding another war to its to-do list.

The problems lay elsewhere for Khan. The offer included everything he could ask for and more, but he had to make himself clear about his stance. He couldn't let political benefits compromise existence anymore.

"[I won't bring dishonor to the Empire]," Khan announced, "[Nor betray it, but I'll only follow my own orders and ideals. And, if I want something, I'll ask or take it]."

The time for unfavorable deals, compromising situations, and concessions was over, at least for Khan. He felt he couldn't even consider them anymore, let alone follow them. Khan could easily lie, but that also went against his power's core.

Lord Envoy and Lord Enforcer felt the need to act once again. The sole idea of a Lord who wouldn't follow the Emperor's orders was ludicrous, but Khan had managed to sound more arrogant than that. He wanted everything, only offering his word in exchange.

The Royal Guards' attention inevitably fell on the Emperor. Only he could have the last word on that deal, and both sides had already laid out all their cards. Everything was in the open, awaiting the Emperor's decision.

The Emperor didn't speak. He slowly stretched his huge arm forward, blowing metallic dust everywhere while offering his hand to Khan.

Actions spoke louder than words, especially in the Emperor's case. He didn't even hesitate to consider Khan's warning. Either he trusted him completely or didn't see his potential betrayal as a headache-worthy issue.

Khan couldn't know the Emperor's mind and didn't care. He was only sure he liked the offer, the Royal Guards, and the Empire, so he took the Emperor's hand, shaking it according to the Thilku customs.

"[You are now a Lord of the Empire, Blue Shaman]," The Emperor announced, pure solemnity in his deep, hammering tone. "[Choose a title to be known as]."

"[The name Blue Shaman came from the Empire's soldiers]," Khan exclaimed. "[It's only proper for me to make it official]."

"[Ah]!" The Emperor suddenly cried. He sounded happy, and the arena didn't enjoy that. Most of its still intact floor shattered, and even one of the distant, damaged pillars tilted over, falling on the brown ground.

The only figures unaffected by the Emperor's sudden cry were the Royal Guards and Khan. The shout still hit like a boulder, but Khan only heard thunderous noises in his mind, which kept him unfazed.

"[From now on]," The Emperor continued as if nothing remotely spectacular had happened, " [You'll be known as Lord Blue Shaman, special emissary of the Empire on a classified mission across the universe]."

"[Lord Blue Shaman]," Lord Envoy and Lord Enforcer said, performing capeless traditional bows. "[Lord Special Emissary]."

Another gale spread over the ruined arena, followed by a loud thud. Lord Mighty had jumped from wherever Lord Envoy had teleported him, rejoining the group. However, the huge Thilku didn't show his feisty behavior and bowed with his fellow Royal Guards.

"[Lord Blue Shaman]," Lord Mighty voiced. "[Lord Special Emissary]."

Khan couldn't help but inspect the scene, paying closer attention to Lord Mighty's uncharacteristic behavior. Khan also wondered how good his hearing was since he had heard the titles from far away, but the Thilku promptly lifted his head to show a smirk.

"[I'm still calling you Blue, Blue]," Lord Mighty exclaimed, grinning and showing his canines.

"[Feast now]," The Emperor ordered, letting go of Khan's hand. "[Celebrate the Empire's new Lord. Lord Enforcer, find him a suitable crown and uniform once you are done]."

"[Yes, My Emperor]," The three Royal Guards uttered simultaneously, reaffirming their capeless bows.

Khan didn't bow. He wasn't sure his mana would allow it, so he didn't even think about trying. Yet, watching the Emperor's departing figure gave birth to a question he voiced after those heavy steps got farther away.

"[Isn't the Emperor going to eat with us]?" Khan wondered, eyeing the Royal Guards.

"[The Emperor's hunger isn't stuff for feasts]," Lord Mighty explained, straightening himself.

"[Does he eat strange stuff or just a lot]?" Khan asked, partially surprised by his own blunt words.

"[The Emperor eats so much even I can't compare]," Lord Mighty laughed and crossed his arms, seemingly proud about something.

"[I bet I could beat him there]," Khan stated.

"[Lord Blue Shaman can't eat more than the Emperor]," Lord Enforcer declared.

"[Come on, Lord Enforcer]," Khan groaned. "[You have never seen me eat]."

"[Lord Blue never saw the Emperor eat]," Lord Enforcer commented.

Khan tilted his head at the partial use of his title, only for a heavy hand to slam on it, trying to make his figure lose a few centimeters. He didn't need to lift his eyes to know Lord Mighty

was grinning behind him.

"[Lord Enforcer won't use your title, either]," Lord Mighty laughed.

"[Lord Enforcer]," Lord Envoy called, "[Lord Mighty, Lord Blue Shaman please contain

yourselves. I'll lead us back to the Royal Palace]."

"[Lord Mighty is too mighty to contain himself]," Lord Mighty scoffed.

"[Lord Idiot Muscles can easily retrain himself]," Lord Enforcer corrected. "[Lord Blue is the

problem]."

Lord Mighty grinned at Khan again. He was no different from a lonely child who had just found a kindred spirit, but Khan decided to leave those matters for the celebration.

Reassuring Lord Envoy had to come first now.

"[It will be fine, Lord Envoy]," Khan reassured, a chilling aura joining his eyes' blue light. "[I know you won't try anything, so I won't blow us apart]."
