Chapter 875: I despise those who steal
Kyle jumped back mid-air when one of the monsters leaped toward him, trying to bury him underneath its body. In that moment, while cursing, he noticed a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye.
Amidst the people from different races fighting around him, he saw Cassian.
Kyle dodged another beast and spun his spear. The power of the natural law of ice and cold erupted, freezing a monster into a statue. Then its body shattered like glass, surprising many people around him as he removed his hoodie and tossed it away. It fell down in the vast space below him.
His gaze lingered on Cassian’s figure.
“What is he still doing here? I thought he would have left the clan already.”
He wondered aloud and watched as the man killed one beast after another.
Cassian’s crimson eyes were so focused that it felt as if he couldn’t sense anything.
Kyle’s gaze narrowed as he sensed the man’s overall power rise, albeit faintly.
“Interesting, he is using a natural law to absorb the energy of those he is killing.”
His interest was piqued.
He spun the spear in his hand, a whirlwind of wind and cold. And then, with a roar that seemed to shake the air, familiar icy flames erupted from his body, engulfing him.
The space around him became a freezing vortex of cold, driving back the monsters.
Jaws of the many Celestials around him gaped in shock at the sight of the flames.
Their eyes widened, and shouts of what type of flames he was using echoed. They could tell it was a skill, but they had never seen such skill that operated solely on the power of nature, that was untamed.
This young person possessed something truly extraordinary! Something only those who had been given permission by nature to wield the natural laws of ice and cold to their absolute extreme limit could wield!
Naturally, they all possessed many natural laws, even if their Celestial Lake didn’t have many colors. They also had multiple skills and even knew powerful Celestial spells.
Yet, they knew nothing could compare to the cold, blue flames they were witnessing. They could just tell. Those freezing flames themselves were born of nature. Their sole wielder didn’t acquire them from a source.
He was born with that power.
He was born to wield that power. One of those rare individuals who are born only once every five or ten thousand years.
However, those people die immediately at the time of their birth because their young bodies can’t handle such immense power, even if they have Celestial physiques.
The young man before them, however, clearly looked like he had worked hard to reach the level of physique he possessed.
Just how had he survived?
Stayed alive for so long?
These questions swirled in the minds of many as their gaze wandered toward him from time to time, even while fighting.
He floated in the flames he created, like a being out of their reach. Many felt jealous. He was clearly weaker than many of them, just a second stage Celestial. Then why on earth did they feel threatened by his aura?
Kyle, naturally, remained unbothered by the gazes on him. He was used to it already. He moved through the monsters, freezing and shattering their bodies with a speed that no 2nd stage Celestial present could follow.
He was feeling a rush of adrenaline.
It’s only been a short time since he fought with Azazeal. Who would have thought he would crave to fight so much?
His gaze was on Cassian, though. Even though he was fighting and killing a lot of monsters, he was attempting to pick up the pattern of natural law Cassian was using to absorb the power of those he killed.
“I need to get closer… I cannot grasp it.”
He felt an urge to touch the air around Cassian. That would be enough for him to understand what he was unable to by just watching. Yet, just as this thought crossed his mind, he met those crimson eyes. They stared directly at him as if they knew he had been watching him and all his plans.
Kyle’s eyes crinkled in amusement, and he disappeared from his spot. He was already caught, so why hesitate? But the man was already gone when he reappeared to touch the space around him. He stared intensely at the empty space and then looked up.
There, above him, Cassian floated, a cold expression on his face as he gazed down.
“What do you want?”
Kyle tilted his head, confused.
“You already know, do not you? I am just trying to understand something that does not even matter.”
Cassian let out a humorless chuckle.
“Doesn’t matter? It does matter, for your information. My laws are mine. No one else is allowed to steal them or learn them. And let me tell you something more, I despise those who steal what belongs to others.”
His words were met with an amused smile that infuriated him so much he wanted to punch the hell out of the man below him.
Kyle straightened up and stared at him.
“I, too, despise the people who steal what belongs to others. Yet, I have done it many times in my life. And I am sure you have too. Does that make us hypocrites?”
Cassian’s fists clenched tightly. Fury bubbled within him, ready to erupt.
Before he could retort, though, many corrupted monsters attacked Kyle. Even though there were many other Celestials around that the monsters could attack, it was almost as if Kyle was their favorite.
Cassian just watched as the man valiantly fought to not let the beasts trap him.
A low hum escaped Cassian’s lips as the corrupted beasts, with a ferocity he had never seen before, chased after Kyle.
“Are they… attracted to him? Why? The beasts are drawn to the Celestials, yes, but only to the aura of strong Celestials. Is his aura… more enticing than the others? Even more than those stronger than him?”
His eyes glowed briefly.
“I know that he has many colors in his Celestial lake. But there’s also something else unique about him. Something related to the icy flames. I just can’t sense it.”
