Beast Taming Patrol

Chapter 261: Gui Gui's Decision

“Today, my daughter returned from the Southern Martial Arts Academy,” Yun Heran spoke softly. “With the pre-selection of the Great Nations Competition imminent, my daughter is one of the seed players from this year’s Southern Martial Arts Academy cohort. I wish to take advantage of these few days while she’s home to enhance her strength as much as possible, in hopes of securing one of those ten spots.”

“Zhenzhen’s back?” Lin Zhennan smiled slightly. “Yun Brother, why didn’t you bring her along? It’s been more than a year since I’ve heard about her after she entered the Southern Martial Arts Academy.”

“She is currently at the critical moment of breaking through to the second level of the Nayuan Realm,” Yun Heran said helplessly as he gestured. “It’s not that I don’t want to, but she has been so focused on martial arts training lately that she doesn’t want to go out.”

“Zhenzhen is already at the point of breaking through to the Nayuan Realm?” Lin Zhennan couldn’t help but exclaim, “What rapid cultivation progress. She is only a year older than Su’er, yet her martial arts talent is so remarkable. No wonder the Southern Martial Arts Academy specially recruited her to study there secretly.”

“Brother Lin flatters her too much,” Yun Heran said, his eyes gleaming with pride as Lin Zhennan praised his daughter. He coughed lightly, “Body Refinement, opening meridians, is merely the foundation of martial arts. Only at the Nayuan Realm can one be considered a true martial dao practitioner capable of standing on their own. Yet with twelve levels in the Nayuan Realm, each level is as distinct as the heavens from the earth, and my daughter still has a long way to go!”

“Reaching the Nayuan Realm by the age of twenty is already an indication of incredible talent. Don’t be too modest, Yun Brother,” Lin Zhennan said with a helpless shake of his head. “By ‘enhancing her strength as much as possible,’ what do you mean?”

“Here’s the thing,” Yun Heran coughed lightly, “in four months, this year’s Martial Arts Tournament between our two families will begin, and I was wondering if we could perhaps hold it four months earlier, perhaps in a few days? Given the rare opportunity of the Great Nations Competition, I imagine the Lin Family has quite a few members who wish to participate. If they can enhance their abilities before the pre-selection, their chances of advancing will increase significantly.”

“This…” Lin Zhennan’s expression changed slightly, “Hold the secret realm event four months in advance?”

He stroked his chin as if pondering something, and then slowly nodded, “It’s not impossible. This matter benefits the young ones from both families, so naturally, I have no objections.”

“Is that decided, then?” Yun Heran’s expression relaxed upon seeing Lin Zhennan’s quick agreement, easing some of his concerns.

“Of course,” Lin Zhennan sipped his tea, “Including preparation time, let’s start in three days. How does that sound to you, Yun Brother?”

“I have no objections,” Yun Heran laughed heartily.

Having settled their business, Yun Heran chatted idly with Lin Zhennan for a while before standing to take his leave. Lin Zhennan also stood up to see his guest out of the reception hall.

After seeing off his guest, Lin Zhennan returned to the master seat in the reception hall, his eyes flickering with contemplation.

Shortly after, he casually summoned a servant.

“When Su’er returns, have him come to the martial arts training field to find me immediately.”

“Yes!”

“Alright, Qiuqiu, don’t get discouraged. We can try again tomorrow, and we can definitely get through the fourth level!” Lin Su gently patted Qiuqiu’s head, offering consolation to the dejected creature.

“Mew~” (Alright then~)

By Lin Su’s side, Gui Gui followed him step by step. At this moment, it scratched its head, its eyes spinning before waving a claw to cheer on Qiuqiu.

“Cackle! Cackle!” (Big brother, keep it up! I made it through, so you definitely can too!)

Qiuqiu: “???”

Damn it!

Would I be this angry if you hadn’t made it through before me?

During this attempt to conquer the Beast Tower, the duo of pets still couldn’t successfully pass the fourth level.

After the team run ended, Qiuqiu tried to clear the fourth level alone but failed once more. In contrast, Gui Gui, equipped with a trump card like Devouring of Nihility, had smoothly passed the Beast Tower’s fourth level and obtained the Dream Crystal Stone reward.

Seeing its junior surpassing its own progress, the older Qiuqiu was left feeling frustrated.

“Mew, mew!” (What’s the big deal? I could pass the fifth level even before I evolved!)

It grumbled stubbornly.

Lin Su shook his head helplessly, once again stroking Qiuqiu’s head before turning his gaze to Gui Gui. “The Dream Crystal Stones from the first four levels add up to 360 additional training sessions. With this pace, in a day or two, Devouring of Nihility should break through to Tier II.”

“Cackle!” (Tier II!)

Hope shone in Gui Gui’s eyes.

Once Devouring of Nihility reached Tier II, using this skill would be much less draining and much easier.

In fact, it could become part of routine training.

It wouldn’t be like it is now, where using it once in the real world would leave it completely spent, with terrible training efficiency.

“According to the Beast Tower’s rules, on the fifth level, you’ll likely face a light-attributed exotic beast with all skills at Tier III in an environment that’s purely elemental light, with almost no shadows,” Lin Su pondered, stroking his chin. “Even with the Black Box to create a space of darkness, you’ll struggle to win in such conditions.”

“So for now, let’s just stick to the first four levels daily,” Lin Su smiled. “In less than a month, Devouring of Nihility could potentially break through to Tier III. Let’s wait for Devouring of Nihility to reach Tier III before we attempt to evolve.”

“Cackle!” (No way!)

“Huh?” Lin Su looked at Gui Gui curiously, “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t evolve until Devouring of Nihility reached Tier III?”
