Beast Tamer Ascension

Chapter 59: Offering Myself in Gratitude

Chapter 59: Offering Myself in Gratitude

Above the Great Wasteland Domain, a bronze ancient sword streaked across the sky.

With astonishing speed, it arrived outside the Beast Taming Sect.

Its formidable aura prompted many elders to emerge from their caves, raising their heads in unison.

They gazed towards the clouds, unexpectedly seeing a familiar figure atop the ancient sword.

After a slight bow towards the Sword Immortal of Lingyue, Lin Jing leaped off the sword, determined to make haste in detoxifying Senior Brother Ouyang.

“Pine Leaf Mouse, catch me!”

As Lin Jing descended, unable to fly or land steadily on his own, he summoned the Pine Leaf Mouse. Layers of crimson leaves appeared beneath his feet, cushioning him as he stepped lightly. With hands clasped behind his back and robes billowing, he descended gracefully onto Danxia Peak, each step exuding elegance like lotus blossoms blooming beneath his feet.

“The Holy Son of the Beast Taming Sect?”

The Sword Immortal of Lingyue had no intention of lingering in the Beast Taming Sect after dropping Lin Jing off. Although the Ice Soul Gu still resided in Lin Jing’s body, she judged that his protector, even in an avatar form, possessed Nascent Soul cultivation. The protector’s true body was likely strong enough to suppress the Ice Soul Gu.

Her main mission in the Great Wasteland Domain was to escort the troublesome Gao Sheng back to his sect. This individual, relying on the influence of his maternal grandfather in the Demon-Slaying Bureau, had wasted twenty years in debauchery, only to abruptly seek validation, causing considerable disruption in the process.

“Elder Shen!” Lin Jing arrived at Danxia Peak, stepping into the Veterinary Hall, where Elder Shen was attending to Senior Brother Ouyang.

Due to the prevalence of spirit beasts in the Beast Taming Sect, injuries during disciples' sparring often affected their companion beasts. Thus, the Veterinary Hall was established, serving as a treatment center not only for spirit beasts but also for Beast Tamers themselves. Here, “beast” referred to both companion beasts and Beast Tamers.

Inside the hall, aside from Elder Shen, there were several unfamiliar physicians.

“Lin Jing?” Elder Shen looked at Lin Jing and the Pine Leaf Mouse in surprise. “You’ve returned? And just now, that was…”

“A fairy from the Heavenly Sword Gate who brought me back,” Lin Jing explained. “Thankfully, I’ve located the source of Senior Brother Ouyang’s poisoning. I request everyone here to vacate the room so I can concentrate on detoxifying him.”

The physicians were startled. A method to treat this rare poison? And brought back by a mere Qi Refining disciple? After a moment of hesitation, they bowed to Elder Shen and departed.

Once the room was cleared, Lin Jing immediately examined Senior Brother Ouyang and asked, “Senior Shen Song, what should I do next?”

“The poison from the Lesser Gu has now reached a stage where your Beast Taming Qi can neutralize it. As the host of the Ice Soul Gu, not only are you now immune to all poisons, but you can also cure countless rare poisons. I’ll unlock a fraction of the Ice Soul Gu’s seal, and you can use its power to expel the Gu poison,” Shen Song instructed.

“That simple?” Lin Jing nodded. Soon, the pinecone mark on the back of his hand glowed, and he felt a surge of power coursing through him.

Drawing on his experience with the Purple Dragonbone Flower, Lin Jing recognized that this power was reshaping his Beast Taming Qi.

He extended his hand, intending to unleash the refined Qi, but instead, several strands of white silk shot from his fingertips.

Zzzzz…

The silk radiated an intense cold, appearing extraordinarily resilient. Lin Jing discovered he could maneuver it as flexibly as his own limbs.

“…” He froze, his mind racing. Have I become a spider demon?

“Pierce the silk into their bodies,” Shen Song instructed.

Although feeling awkward, Lin Jing complied, threading the silk into Senior Brother Ouyang and the fox spirit Hong’er.

In that instant, Lin Jing sensed the invisible Gu poison entrenched deep within their souls. Surprisingly, he could now effortlessly absorb the toxins and command the Gu poison at will.

Meanwhile, Elder Shen, watching Lin Jing wield the silk to detoxify, stood dumbfounded. What was… this sorcery?

In a short time, Lin Jing successfully extracted the toxins from both patients. Their complexions began to improve, gradually returning to normal.

“Ugh…” Senior Brother Ouyang groaned in pain, but he had yet to regain full consciousness.

“The poison is neutralized. They’ll recover after some rest,” Lin Jing reassured, retracting the silk. But no sooner had he spoken than a wave of dizziness overwhelmed him, and he collapsed.

“Squeak?!”

The Pine Leaf Mouse and Elder Shen panicked. Shen Song reappeared, manifesting through condensed spiritual energy. “Don’t worry,” he explained. “He’s merely overexerted. Using the power of the Gu King at Qi Refining Stage Four is taxing. He just needs rest.”

“Tiandu’s Guardian Deity!” Elder Shen exclaimed, bowing respectfully before realizing what had been said. “Wait… Gu King? What do you mean, using the Gu King’s power?”

The Pine Leaf Mouse gave a subtle nod, as if to say: Yes, we now have our own demon cultivator in the Beast Taming Sect.

Drip… Drip…

Lin Jing stirred groggily, cold air hitting his face.

“This familiar sensation… feels so familiar,” he muttered nonsensically. Thankfully, he wasn’t in a damp prison. Instead, he found himself in an icy realm made of snow and spider silk.

At the heart of this domain lay a spider entirely composed of ice. Majestic and regal, it exuded an aura of winter’s sovereignty, its body bound by towering pine trunks inscribed with golden-green runes forming intricate sealing formations.

“The Ice Soul Gu… is this…” Lin Jing murmured.

“This is your body’s inner world. What you see now is just a sliver of your consciousness,” Shen Song appeared and explained.

“Senior Shen Song…”

“The Ice Soul Gu, often dubbed the embodiment of frost, is a fearsome Gu. While the Lesser Ice Soul Gu’s poison in your senior brother was rare, the Ice Soul Gu’s venom is even deadlier. Most Gu worms possess mind-controlling abilities, and the Ice Soul Gu is unparalleled in this regard,” Shen Song continued.

“Its poison can freeze a cultivator’s Yin Spirit, transforming them into its puppet. Even if the cultivator’s body is obliterated, the venom can preserve their Yin Spirit indefinitely, controlling their soul.”

“In essence, the Ice Soul Gu’s capabilities surpass the corpse cultivation techniques of the Yin Corpse Sect and the soul manipulation techniques of the Nether Palace. Moreover, its extreme cold can instantly kill even those with innate frost physiques.”

“Hiss…” Lin Jing gasped at the chilling cold surrounding him.

“So… am I really going to contract this thing?”

“Don’t worry. It’s still in its infancy and sealed by me. As long as you contract a fire-type beast of significant bloodline power to counterbalance it, you’ll be fine. For now, I’ll teach you the Sacred Wood Seal to strengthen the bindings and allow you to harness some of its power in emergencies.”

“Thank you, Senior Shen Song.”

“Just remember your promise of Longevity Blood. If you renege, you’ll learn what a demon pine truly is,” Shen Song warned.

Lin Jing quickly assured, “I won’t…”

Sometime later, Lin Jing awakened, finding himself in bed. Beside him sat a fox, a squirrel, and a frail figure keeping watch.

Seeing him awake, the figure burst into tears, exclaiming, “Brother! Thank you for saving me! If I’m reincarnated as a woman, I’ll offer myself to you!”

“Why… does this feel like betrayal…” Lin Jing muttered weakly before passing out again.
