Chapter 1275: Rip
At the speed they were currently moving, the pup’s little mind shouldn’t even have been able to think. But instead… he had vanished!?
The crimson splatter filled their vision before the sound reached them.
Three Warbringers glanced to their left, only for their hearts to freeze as they saw it… a vicious claw tearing through one of the Warbringers without any trace of restraint.
The fire that once blazed around him had been pierced through as though it wasn’t there. The mana fortifications he had created had been torn apart. His flesh, which could withstand the worst of blows, had been ripped open.
All that remained were the split pieces of his lifeless body, blood and gore spraying through the air.
Time seemed to stop as the Warbringers turned and locked eyes on the cause.
They had been half expecting the same furry creature, only to receive a completely different scene.
Instead of the tiny pup from before, Noctis looked like a beast pulled from a legendary tale.
He was massive.
His fur was spiky, fangs pointed, razor sharp claws poised to rip and tear. And then his eyes…
They were golden. Boundless. A predator’s.
The Warbringers’ hearts stopped as Noctis turned toward them.
’He’s coming!’ the thought thundered in their heads. Panic surged, and they instinctively knew at that moment… they couldn’t react.
A twitch, and one of them found his vision engulfed by razor sharp claws tearing toward him.
The sense of death gripped him as his life flashed before his eyes. But before the claws could land, the mana in the air suddenly trembled, then exploded.
A roaring blast erupted across the battlefield, the force ripping through the surroundings like a divine storm.
The Eldorians were pushed back violently, some stumbling, others flung outright.
The desert ground cracked and split apart, massive chunks of earth blasted away. A blinding light filled the field, and the shockwave howled with such force it seemed to shatter the air.
And just like that, a thick haze covered the battlefield.
Avalon, Oberon, and many of the other Eldorians regained their momentum and shot their gazes back to see the cause of the sudden explosion.
Nex.
He ascended slowly into the sky, his elaborate robe undisturbed despite the roaring wind. He gazed down upon the scene of devastation like a god gazing down at ants.
Somehow, the three Warbringers had appeared behind him, their forms drenched in sweat and breathing labored. It was as though they had been through hell and back.
’He caused the explosion.’ Blazing fire had enveloped Avalon’s body as his thoughts ran fast. Noctis had been able to kill another Warbringer, but before he could go after another, Nex had interfered, making the mana explode.
Avalon, along with many other Eldorians, couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath at Nex’s show of power. Regardless, their minds still reeled from what Noctis had just done.
The little guy had killed one of the champions of a world as though he were nothing. It hadn’t been a battle, it had been an execution.
Avalon had always known Noctis was strong, he was his son’s soulkin, after all. But to think he was this strong…
Avalon and the remaining Eldorians came out of their thoughts just as Nex’s aura began to rise.
“Looks like you’re the real threat,” Nex said simply, expression not changing.
He thought, and the mana heeded his call.
The earth rose from the ground, converging on one spot behind him in the sky. It grew bigger as more and more gathered, until it was as big as a large meteor.
The meteor blotted the golden sun, as though an eclipse had settled over the land.
With another thought, the meteor descended toward Noctis. The air ripped under its falling weight, creating spirals of howling winds around it.
The pressure caused the haze to clear just enough to reveal Noctis, standing in the middle of the chaos, his demeanor calm.
The meteor slammed into the land with devastating force, the ground shattering beneath it.
A massive tremor spread out in every direction, ripping apart the battlefield. Dust exploded into the air as the pressure wave blasted outward. The Eldorians were forced to shield themselves with their auras as they braced against the violent force.
An intense haze covered everything.
The battlefield fell utterly silent as each Eldorian stared at the thick mist that drenched the land. “Is he okay?” they all wondered.
Suddenly, a blast rippled from the center, clearing the thick haze and revealing its heart.
Noctis still stood in the same position as earlier, only now, he wasn’t in the middle of a deep crater.
All around him, the hole had been filled, as though he had used the earth from the attack to restore the ground beneath him.
The Eldorians breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that he could hold his own against the god. At least now, not all was lost.
However, Nex narrowed his eyes, his expression turning serious.
His thoughts moved fast, and so did the mana.
A sea of fire appeared above the battlefield. Then a raging storm of lightning, followed by piercing winds and a cascade of frozen hail. More attacks came, dozens, each one shaped from different elements.
They fell toward Noctis as they were formed, crashing down like judgment itself.
Each strike detonated on impact, triggering violent explosions. The ground shook violently, shattering again as flames engulfed the skies and thunder roared like gods warring above.
After a moment, silence descended as the attacks stopped. The entire area went still.
The tension hit its peak as all eyes focused onto the thick haze. Waiting.
Had Nex finally gotten him?
As though to answer the question, another blast rippled out from the depths, clearing the haze and revealing the truth.
Noctis still stood on the same spot. Demeanor still calm. There wasn’t even a single crater around him. The ground was as untouched as him.
Nex’s expression seemed to twist.
’He’s not affected by the elements,’ he realized.
