Tang Shaoyang met with General Ravenbarch, and he was with someone he did not recognize. Alves whispered to him, telling him that the man with General Ravenbarch was Grand General, the highest-ranking general in the Raven Monarchy, the big boss of the Raven Monarchy Force. Two more people with them were also Generals on the same level as General Ravenbarch.
Their group was quite big, with twenty escorts, and all of them were God Ranks. This was the power of the Raven Monarchy, and dominated by the beastmen. Only four of them were human, and only one of them was General.
“What took you so long, Alves?” General Ravenbarch noticed their arrival and approached. There was a displeasure in his tone, and of course, there was a reason behind it.
They agreed to attend together as the representative from the Raven Monarchy. He asked the Grand General to wait as well, and Alves dared to come late. That was why he was slightly upset that Alves was late.
Then he noticed a group of people he did not recognize, and the worst part was that this group wore armor as if they were going to battle. The escorts immediately surrounded the Grand General at General Ravenbarch’s hand signal.
“Calm down, General Ravenbarch. You don’t even give me time to explain anything. Let’s not make things ugly with unnecessary aggression!” Alves immediately stepped up in front of Tang Shaoyang.
The fox beastmen was well aware that his new friend also had a temper. His new friend might take offense at such aggression.
“You know who will come today, and you dare to bring—” Alves cut General Ravenbarch off. He took one step forward and faced General Ravenbarch.
“Don’t be unreasonable, General Ravenbarch. You know me well, and I will not just bring anyone with me! At least listen to my explanation before you say something outrageous.”
General Ravenbarch looked Alves in the eyes for a moment. For Alves to go this far, it meant the people he berated just now were not just any people. He glanced at the five knights who gave him an unfriendly look and realized that all of them were God Ranks. They were all new faces, not the God Ranks he knew.
“I will explain everything on the way,” Alves gestured around them that they might be the last batch of people outside the castle.
The Raven Mercenary Guild Master explained to General Ravenbarch and the Grand General as to why they were late. The complication and some stuff the guild must handle with Tang Shaoyang’s team. He did not even hide how the knight defeated one of his people, and also the Sorcerer Mercenary Guild Master.
The atmosphere changed when the mercenary guild had a team full of God Ranks. Six God Ranks popping out of nowhere was unheard of. The shocking part was the fact that they beat another God Rank. The Raven Monarchy’s official did not make a fuss about it any longer after hearing the explanation. They would need every manpower they could get, even though the six God Ranks’ appearance was quite suspicious.
They did not make a fuss because six of them were humans. That meant they did not have any relation with the Dominion. They might be from the Sacred Kingdom, and it did not really matter if they were from the Sacred Kingdom because they would not harm the Eptas Monarchy, as they wanted the Dominion to be destroyed.
They arrived at the court that was guarded tightly by the people from the Sorcerer Monarchy. Despite their focus on the Sorcerer, the monarchy had quite many famed knights and warriors as well. There was a long line as the guards checked the guests one by one.
Aside from the Raven Monarchy, the Chevalier Monarchy also came to help the Sorcerer Monarchy. The three monarchies’ representatives would be discussing how they would fight the Dominion.
Even the Grand General of the Raven Monarchy could not skip the security check because of what happened to the three potential successors who died at the start of the war. The guards were especially strict with the beastmen.
Tang Shaoyang thought there would be no more problems after Alves explained everything to the Grand General; there would be no misunderstanding or any other stupid stuff. Of course, he was wrong about it, especially with a title that he gave himself, Trouble Magnet.
“Who are they? They are not on the guest list!” The guard who checked Tang Shaoyang’s mercenary profile immediately stopped him. The worst part was that the remaining guards sheathed their weapons and pointed them at Tang Shaoyang. Within a few seconds, Tang Shaoyang and his spirits were surrounded by twenty guards.
Alves panicked when he saw the look in Tang Shaoyang’s eyes, “What’s the meaning of this? Haven’t I informed you that the Raven Mercenary Guild will bring more people with us?”
The people inside the court immediately stood up and looked toward the entrance when the commotion was heard.
Alves immediately moved and stood between Tang Shaoyang and the guard in charge. These guards were God Ranks. Jovrick and Gianni would kill them all within a few seconds, the moment they made a move. He must prevent that from happening.
The fox beastmen immediately noticed that the guard in charge was looking toward one of the successors at the honor seats. He recognized the person, Albin. The third son of the Sorcerer Monarch, who received a lot of support from the nobles of the Sorcerer Monarchy. He immediately understood what happened. This was just a ploy, and the mercenary guild was not the target, but the eldest son of the Sorcerer Monarch.
Alves contacted the person of the Sorcerer Monarch’s eldest son. He told Benedict that the mercenary guild would bring more people with them, and they accepted it because Hera also guaranteed that Tang Shaoyang’s presence in the meeting was necessary. Albin thought that the mercenary guild might support his brother and tried to use this to cut the support.
Alves was mad when he understood everything. These fools still tried to stab at each other even though the Sorcerer Monarchy was on the brink of destruction. They had agreed with the three remaining successors that there would be no more ploys and infighting until the war against the Dominion was over. That was the condition the mercenary guild put up when the Eptas Monarchy asked for their help in the war.
The Raven Mercenary Guild Master was angry, and he reached the guard in charge’s head. He grabbed the guard’s head and slammed the guard to the ground. He did not stop there as he kept slamming his head down, again and again. He vented his anger on the guard instead of Albin.
Alves’ escorts also immediately subdued the remaining guards. Such action shocked everyone who attended the meeting. Even Hera did not expect that her peers, who were known for their composure and also coolheaded, would react this way.
Of course, Alves did not kill the guard. He grabbed the guard by the neck and dragged him into the room. The guards were on alert and immediately surrounded the three princes.
The fox beastmen threw the body toward Albin’s table. Of course, the guard caught the body before it reached Albin.
“We have agreed not to involve the guild in your succession battle, Young Lord Albin!”
Albin’s face turned ugly, his brown eyes shook as fury took over him. This mercenary dared to act daring in this noble court and smeared his name in front of many people.
The person next to Albin was about to say something, but Albin raised his finger, pointing his finger at the man, “I don’t want to hear anything from you! This is a warning from the Raven Mercenary Guild. This will be the first and the last, and if we find out that you try to target or use us in your succession battle once more, the Raven Mercenary Guild will back down from the war!”
Albin’s right hand was about to say something, but Hera spoke first, “The Sorcerer Mercenary Guild will also back down from the war if the agreement is violated once more. This is also a warning from the Sorcerer Mercenary Guild.”
The Chevalier Mercenary Guild also stood up, “The same with the Chevalier Mercenary Guild. We will pull our people from the Sorcerer Monarchy if this incident recurs again.”
Albin was getting angrier when two guild leaders stood up for the Raven Mercenary Guild Leader. However, there was nothing he could do even if he was humiliated in front of many people. If the three mercenary guilds backed down, they would lose one-third of their force. Not just that, they would lose thirty-four God Ranks, a crucial force they needed to fight the Dominion.
Albin’s trusted aide pulled him down, calming him down. They were not expecting that the meek Raven Mercenary Guild Leader would react so strongly like this. They never planned to go this far, making sure they would never cross the line. They were not expecting the reaction from Alves, who was known as a big pushover.
The Sorcerer Monarch’s eldest son, Benedict Murillo Forest, stood up from his seat and bowed toward Alves. “I apologize for our poor reception, Sir Alves. It’s my negligence to let something like this happen.”
Alves was fumed when he looked at Benedict. This could happen because Benedict let this happen. The eldest son knew this would happen, but he let his third brother’s people guard the entrance. Benedict did not even put his people to anticipate something like this, meaning Benedict wanted this to happen.
The fox beastmen growled and walked away, “I should just let your people die instead…” His voice trailed off. He looked at the five knights, and sure enough, the five knights were ready to fight anytime. If he let them be, half of the people in this meeting would die for sure.
He was just that annoyed at the Forest Family, how could they still fight among themselves when the Dominion was at their door?
‘Where does their confidence come from that we can repel the Dominion?’ Alves was annoyed even before the meeting started and did not have the mood to participate in the meeting. If not for his obligation, he would leave the court right away.
