The square before them, previously cluttered with decorative materials, had now been meticulously arranged into various enchanting displays. A dreamy kingdom of balloons, a wonderland of flowers, sacred pillars inspired by mythology, candles, lights, projections, and various text signs all conveyed messages of love.
This was no birthday banquet—it was clearly a proposal scene.
Except for Yu Lu, everyone else rushed toward the young man standing in the center.
“What’s going on? What’s going on?” Qin Tiantian exclaimed excitedly.
Qin Yi said, “We just saw it when we came out, but it’s obvious someone is planning to propose formally.”
They saw huge posters, some featuring Ji Fei alone, and others showing candid photos of Ji Fei and Qin Xian together.
“That one was taken by me,” Qin Tiantian cried out in delight.
“So, Second Brother hasn’t proposed to Second Sister-in-law yet?” Qin Jiaxi asked in surprise.
Qin Wenqiang laughed, “They talked about holding a wedding before, but I didn’t expect him to propose now. He really keeps his word.”
“Look at all these details. It doesn’t seem like a spur-of-the-moment decision. He must have been planning this for a long time,” Qin Jing analyzed.
“Of course! Look at those flowers. I only heard Second Sister-in-law mention once that she likes blue hydrangeas. Did Second Brother really buy all the hydrangeas in the city?” Qin Xiaoyu said with an excited laugh.
“Hey, they’re here. Let’s help,” Qin Zhao called out as he walked over. “Cousin, the band—go keep an eye on them.”
“Why didn’t you tell us earlier?” Qin Yi immediately became frantic.
“It had to be kept secret! I got the band you’re most familiar with. The songs were chosen by my brother, and everything is ready. Just follow the plan!” Before Qin Zhao could finish, Qin Yi had already rushed toward the orchestra that had just arrived.
When Qin Zhao turned around, he saw the rest of his siblings staring at him eagerly, as if waiting for him to assign them tasks.
After receiving their roles, they scattered excitedly to help with the preparations.
When they arrived, they realized that each station was already being monitored by people familiar with Qin Xian’s plans and requirements. However, since these individuals weren’t familiar with the Qin family or the mansion, collaboration was essential.
Upon meeting, introductions were naturally exchanged.
Qin Wenqiang, who was assigned to oversee the placement of the posters, noticed a woman working efficiently with a walkie-talkie, giving out instructions. Curious, she went over to greet her.
The woman turned around with a professional smile. “Are you from the Qin family? Hello, I’m Pei Mingxuan, a partner at Ji Fei’s studio and her career manager. Mr. Qin Xian asked me to come and help.”
“Oh, hello. I’m their eldest cousin,” Qin Wenqiang replied.
Over at the band, Jing Yan stood up to greet Qin Yi, and they quickly became acquainted.
“When did you arrive?” Qin Yi asked.
Jing Yan rubbed his temples. “Late last night.”
“That’s really hard work.”
“Well, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime proposal for a brother. Of course, we had to help. Actually, this was originally planned to happen at our place, but as soon as the engagement ring was ready… I guess he couldn’t wait any longer, huh?” Jing Yan laughed.
By now, each group had made new friends and was enthusiastically discussing the surprise proposal.
In a daze, Yu Lu finally realized what was about to happen. Although she knew the two were already married, seeing Qin Xian prepare such an elaborate proposal scene made her feel as if she had been metaphorically slapped in the face.
It wasn’t just the extravagance and grandeur of the scene but also the timing.
Grandpa Qin’s milestone birthday banquet was set to shake the business world, and many influential people would attend, making it a grand event.
By choosing to propose the day before, Qin Xian ensured that the banquet would be filled with discussions about the proposal. All eyes would be on Ji Fei, and no one would dare gossip about their lack of a wedding or question their relationship. Instead, everyone would see how much Qin Xian adored Ji Fei and how much Grandpa Qin valued his granddaughter-in-law.
Any attempt by Yu Lu to interfere would make her look like a clown.
Or rather, this couple, about to receive the world’s blessings, would make anyone trying to come between them a target of public scorn.
Having failed to seduce Qin Xian, Yu Lu now had to face this situation. Overwhelmed, she turned around and tried to rush back inside.
However, as soon as she reached the entrance of the new building, two black-clad bodyguards suddenly appeared and blocked her way.
Luo Fei stepped forward with a smile. “Young lady, no matter who you are, Mr. Qin Xian has instructed that no one disturb his wife. Please wait outside for the ceremony.”
“I forgot something inside,” Yu Lu said through gritted teeth, determined to ruin the surprise.
But then a stranger, a woman with a similar style but much taller, walked out of the building. She looked Yu Lu up and down.
“It’s fine, Luo Fei. We’ll follow her. If she causes any trouble, just knock her out,” Guo Yalan said with a smile.
“You… What are you doing? I’m part of the Qin family! I’m…” Yu Lu’s eyes burned with anger.
“If you weren’t assigned a task, it means Mr. Qin Xian doesn’t consider you one of his own. So, either you leave, or we’ll make you leave—and it won’t be pretty,” Guo Yalan said, unyielding.
Yu Lu clearly knew she was outmatched and could only storm off toward the Qin Family Mansion to complain.
Luo Fei turned back. “Did the dress get delivered?”
“Yes, it’s the one I designed myself. I’m a great fashion designer, after all,” Guo Yalan replied.
“Are you sure? Will Mr. Qin Xian let Ji Fei wear something you designed?”
“Hey, hey, hey! I have conservative designs too, you know. With Qin Xian being such a jealous person, anything too revealing wouldn’t make it out the door. But trust me, it’ll look amazing.” As she spoke, someone else came out.
“Sis, it seems Sister Ji Fei has changed into the dress. By the time estimate, we have about an hour left,” Han Ziyu said.
Guo Yalan pinched her sister’s cheek and then picked up the walkie-talkie to relay the message.
Outside, the preparations became even more frantic.
Han Ziyu smiled. “I just saw Yu Rouyin and Sun Man. They rushed over from the film set.”
Meanwhile, at the Qin Family Mansion, the elders had already received the news. Qin’s Father and Qin’s Mom had even changed their clothes and were nervously waiting for further instructions.
Just then, Yu Lu stormed in with red eyes.
Qin’s Father and Qin’s Mom exchanged a glance and then signaled Fifth Aunt Qin.
Fifth Aunt Qin immediately stepped forward, pulling Yu Lu toward Lu Meihe to prevent her from ruining the atmosphere.
