Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1739: Creating Waves

"If he doesn't stop now that he still has the chance, even if the ice wall stops sending out this chill into his body, the already done won't be light."

"Youths these days don't know their own limits. Daring to act like the sky is not enough for them."

A few of the Elders had different opinions on Klaus' current situation. Most of them didn't think of it as spectacular, rather, suicidal.

"Kid, one should know when to quit while they are ahead." An Elder said to Klaus. It was obvious he didn't want a talent like Klaus to bring harm to his future just for such a test.

A massive war was on the way, and there was no telling what the end result would be, but people like Klaus were the hope of the next generation, so naturally, this Elder didn't want any harm to befall such a rising star.

The Elders from the Crescent Moon Faction noticed that Klaus wasn't showing any signs of stopping even when his entire body had been encased by a thin layer of ice. They couldn't help but look in the direction of the people from the Moonlight Faction, if anyone should be worried, it should be these people from the Moonlight Faction.

Looking in their direction, they noticed something odd, the Faction Leader and the Elders from the Moonlight Faction seemingly didn't seem to worry about Klaus' safety even after seeing his current situation.

'Could it be that they also don't like him?'

A few of the Elders thought to themselves. It isn't strange for them to say this. Klaus has shown nothing but contempt for them, and given how he carried himself, they felt he might've most likely already offended everyone from his Faction and they wanted to use this opportunity to punish him.

Naturally, there were people who didn't think in this manner, instead, they sucked in a deep breath when they realized what the actions of those from the Moonlight Faction might imply: utmost confidence in his abilities.

If this was the case, then there's truly no reason for them to worry about Klaus' safety.

An Elder still stepped up, "Faction Leader Beatrice, don't you think it's unwise to let him still stay there?"

Faction Leader Beatrice looked at the Elder and gave a warm smile, "Don't worry Senior, you don't have to worry about him. If it's anyone else, I would've acted already."

Faction Leader Beatrice didn't speak any further, but the hidden meaning behind her words was clear; She was not making any move to help Klaus with his current situation.

Is it hatred? Or absolute confidence?

With Faction Leader Beatrice not moving, no one else tried to stop Klaus as they all watched. They were still watching when a change started to happen. The ice wall, which, other than sending out children, barely reacted, ed, soon started to show signs of changes.

The already low temperature in the Crescent Moon Faction dropped even lower, especially in the Hall as everyone saw chills exuding from the body of the ice wall.

Everyone standing within fifteen meters of Klaus hastily retreated as they noticed that their figures had started showing signs of freezing within a single breath. If they had stayed there more than a second, there was a high chance that they might've been turned into an ice sculpture.

They looked at the chill with dread, not daring to slight it. Even the Elders from the Crescent Moon Faction had pale expressions. They didn't know why the ice wall suddenly had such a reaction.

"What's happening? Did he break it?" Someone asked in fright as they saw the ice wall which had never shown much of a reaction over thousands of years, act in this manner

"No, no... this... Elders." Suzanne could tell that the ice wall wasn't broken, but she, too, didn't know what was happening.

While she turned to the Elders, she noticed that all of them were visibly shaking. This sight startled her as she had had the highest encounters with these Elders and knew that they barely showed any reactions on their faces. These seemingly aloof Elders were all acting in such a strange manner due to what they were seeing, alarming her.

Her pupils suddenly shrunk when she thought of something. She didn't dare to believe it, but all she needed to do was look in the direction of the ice wall to confirm her thoughts. Right before her eyes, even though the mist made from the chill had enveloped the area fifteen meters around Klaus, it didn't impair the visions of these top powerhouses.

Looking at the ice wall, she saw that the Thirteenth floor, the very last floor of the Ice Chamber, was starting to show signs of growing light.

She had read about an incident that caused an uproar in the Faction thousands of years ago, and the incident was caused when a member of the Faction actually got all the way to the Thirteenth floor. That was the only person who had managed to get to the Thirteenth floor since the day this test was set up.

That member is still rumored to be alive. From what Suzanne knew, this person should be getting close to five thousand years.

To Elementalists in the Sovereign Plane, having a life expectancy of around ten thousand years isn't exaggerated. Of course, very few experts get to this age due to a variety of things. The Thirteenth floor was something that hadn't been touched for thousands of years, yet now, after so long, it was like a sleeping ancient beast was slowly waking up.

The scene continued for a while longer, with the light on the Thirteenth floor growing stronger and stronger. The entire ice wall trembled, before shooting out a soft light from its body into the sky.

The Thirteenth floor of the Ice Chamber had been attained in the presence of so many people. No one present dared to make any noise, in fear that they might wake up from their dreams.
