1719 A Last Ditch Effort?
The youths from the Pyro Faction couldn't believe what they were seeing. A Sixth stage Sovereign was battling with two people who had the strength of an Eighth stage Sovereign. Not just that, but the fact that he was being completely overwhelmed by his opponents showed that he was very competent. Lord Dante and the Elders from the Pyro Faction could barely believe it too. Grey was talented, but they didn't expect that he would be in a position where others would believe that he could fight against two people, almost two stages across his cultivation stage. Grey had previously phased through an attack, striking the young man who was Vale's companion. Even though Vale was attacked immediately after, he reacted quickly, rushing to the aid of his companion. If he didn't do this, there's a good chance that his companion might be taken out by Grey. Even though he didn't want to believe it, he had come to realise that alone, there's no way he could beat Grey, and the realization broke his heart. It's one thing knowing you can't defeat someone of a superior cultivation stage, but not being able to hold out against someone in a weaker cultivation stage was heart wrenching for a young genius like him. With Vale's timely response to Grey's attack, he was able to save his opponent from Grey's continued attacks. Unknown to the Vale, Grey didn't have any plans of continuing his attack on his companion. He knew there was no way Vale would let him do as he pleased, so he aimed for Grey. But Grey reacted quickly, making sure he not only created a gap between them, but also between him and his companion. He looked above him and noticed that Grey's fire snake was about to go out, but his Elemental Warrior could still be used, and a smile crept up on his face. Now that it's been proven that Grey's stronger than either of them, he wanted to make sure they defeated Grey at all costs. It's one thing if Grey defeats just one of them, but defeating the duo while being a cultivation stage lower is even more embarrassing to them. Grey took note of what was happening in the sky, and knew that he needed to act quickly. Once the Elemental Warrior is free, it'll make things harder for him. Not that he still didn't have a good chance of winning, ultimately, he hadn't gone all out yet. The duo's fighting experience was just too shallow, and other than having to put in a little more effort than what he's doing now, he didn't really need to go all out. 'A shame.' He thought to himself. These guys were strong, but staying in this secret world all the time has made it impossible for them to have any valid battle knowledge, which was showing as they battled with Grey. Grey stood in the sky, looking down at Vale and his companion, he opened his palm, and a multicolored orb formed. The aura from the orb made Vale's companion, who was already injured from Grey's attack shiver. He could literally feel a chill run down his spine. It's almost like what he was seeing isn't an orb, but death itself, calling to him. In the Elders' area. Lord Dante stood up for the first time, he was unable to contain his emotions any longer. The orb in Grey's hand was a combination of four different elements, not just that, but they were so well mixed that they didn't push each other away. The attack strength of this orb was well above the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane, bordering the range of a peak Eighth stage Sovereign. With such an attack in his arsenal, Grey could've ended the battle from the start.
In the stands. Matilda's eyes shone brilliantly when she saw this orb. Only the aura coming off of the orb alone frightened her to death. Xaden and the duo of Nathan and Harry couldn't believe that Grey still had such a move hidden. He didn't use his inscription against his previous opponents as well, now they understood that he truly didn't see them as a threat to begin with. With Grey's orb, he could've defeated his past opponents, and even his current opponents if he had used it earlier. If this was what he used against Vale's companion, the chances that he'll be killed is almost a hundred percent, and there would most likely not be anything left of him once he's struck with the attack. Vale looked at the orb in Grey's hand, and his heart started to race. He could sense a threat to his life, if this orb hits him, he'll die for sure. Grey let go of the orb, letting it fall in Vale and his companion's direction. Without hesitation, the duo turned around and bolted. Vale created a large hand made from the darkness element, sending it towards the orb. He wanted to stop the orb from getting closer to them. His companion didn't stay idle, he reacted quickly too. Darkness spread out from him, enveloping the four colored orb and the hand made from the darkness element. Boom! The orb exploded, easily destroying the hand as well as the veil of darkness Vale's companion sent toward it. Vale and his companion were sent flying from the impact of the attack, but they've survived the dreadful attack. Everyone looked at the duo and heaved a sigh of relief seeing that other than Vale's already injured companion, Vale looked relatively okay, however, they didn't know the internal pains Vale was going through at the moment.
"At least he can't use such an attack a second time." Vale muttered under his breath as he spat out a mouthful of blood. He couldn't believe someone in Grey's cultivation stage could have access to such attack power. Vale isn't the only one who had such thoughts, even the crowd didn't feel Grey could create another orb in a short time. Elemental attacks like that tend to always have a high essence consumption whenever used, so people only use it as a last ditch effort.
