When the Domain Traversal Battles ended, the squads had time to rest. The next battle would only take place in ten days, and this period of time would allow them to consolidate any gains made during the fights they had.
Li Luo approached the East Divine Continent's vice principals to attempt to gather more Celestial Mirror Sand for the Sand Seizing Battles.
"Mentor Li Luo, you plan to participate in the Sand Seizing Battles?"
When Li Luo mentioned his desire to borrow Celestial Mirror Sand, Guo Jiufeng, Wang Xu, Chen Chi, and the rest of the vice principals immediately knew of his intentions, so they hesitated.
They knew that the Sand Seizing Battles were the quickest way of earning more Celestial Mirror Sand, but it was a gamble. After all, wouldn't the squads that dared to participate be at the top of the rankings?
There were even some devious individuals who would hide their trump cards during the Domain Traversal Battles, only revealing them during the Sand Seizing Battles to relieve others of their Celestial Mirror Sand and earn a large sum. The outer divine continents’ sage college squads rarely joined the Sand Seizing Battles, as their strength wasn't sufficient for them to dabble in those deep waters.
Celestial Mirror Sand was already a rarely seen cultivation resource for them. Squandering it would only lead to them regretting it over the next three years.
"I'll be joining hands with Sister Qing'e. If you believe in me, you can give it a shot," Li Luo explained.
Hearing that Jiang Qing'e would participate caused Vice Principal Guo Jiufeng's expression to shift. Her strength did give people confidence, and so long as they didn't meet any eighth-grade Dukes, they would definitely stand a chance. The Sand Seizing Battle's opponents would have to be mutually agreed upon. Li Luo would naturally not pick an eighth-grade Duke to provoke. With this in mind, the vice principals of the East Divine Continent decided to give Li Luo some face and trust in him. Besides, he was the reason why they were able to obtain such striking results.
Of course, they didn’t lend him all of their Celestial Mirror Sand; they had to keep some to themselves. After going around, Li Luo managed to borrow twenty grains of Celestial Mirror Sand. Adding on to the eighteen, no, seventeen grains he had on hand, he now had thirty-seven grains of Celestial Mirror Sand.
Jiang Qing'e then rushed over and told him, "I've got twenty-three grains of Celestial Mirror Sand."
She had similarly tried to borrow more Celestial Mirror Sand from the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College, but because there were many ambitious individuals that also wished to participate in the Sand Seizing Battles, she was unable to gather as much.
"If you think that's not enough, I can lend you another ten grains," Lu Qing'er suddenly said.
"That should be enough!" Li Luo said with a grin. That would make a total of seventy grains of Celestial Mirror Sand, which was a shocking amount. In fact, he was starting to feel a little bit fearful. With such huge stakes, who would dare to challenge him?
Would this be the biggest sum wagered during the Sand Seizing Battles?
Based on the rules, both sides had to put up similar amounts of Celestial Mirror Sand.
Just as Li Luo was worrying about this, a few people suddenly landed on the East Divine Continent's platform. Li Luo could see Mentor Chi Chan's expression turn cold when they dropped in, and deep fear and disgust appeared in her eyes.
When he looked over at the group, he noticed Chi Chi amongst them.
However, Chi Chi was standing at the back. A skinny man with dark-red eyes stood at the fore, his entire body radiating a sense of danger.
"Chi Li, upper seventh-grade from the Duke Mythical Spirit Ancient College." The individual's information quickly flashed through Li Luo's mind. Furthermore, this person had performed extremely well during the Domain Traversal Battles and was considered a peak expert of the Mythical Spirit Ancient College.
"It's been a while since we last met, Chi Chan," the man with the dark-red eyes said as he looked at her with a smile seemingly reminiscing in nostalgia.
Chi Chan's slender hands clenched so tightly that green veins could be seen on her snow-white skin. She coldly snapped, "Chi Li, I don't want to see you."
Chi Li gave a slight smirk. "Chi Chan, return home with me. Your parents have been waiting for you, and they aren't having a good time with you gone. Have you not thought about them while you were galavanting wantonly across the lands?"
When Chi Chan heard these words, her beautiful eyes turned red and she glared daggers at Chi Li. "What did you do to them?"
"You can relax, I haven't done anything. The main family always follows the rules; they might simply dispatch them for more dangerous missions occasionally. Oh, it seems like your father lost an arm whilst performing one of these missions a few years ago," Chi Li casually replied.
"Chi Li!" Chi Chan's entire body started trembling. The usually polite and elegant mentor no longer displayed any of the calmness she usually had. Her resonant power was on the edge of blasting outwards and she almost took action in anger.
However, a hand stretched out and grabbed hold of her arm. It was Li Luo!
"Mentor Chi Chan, there's no need to be anxious," Li Luo consoled.
Tears were pooling up within her eyes and her fists remained tightly clenched. She knew that Chi Li was provoking and threatening her, all so that she would surrender willingly. However, after hearing that her father had lost an arm, she felt as though her heart had been cut open with a knife.
Li Luo then stood in front of Chi Chan and directed his icy gaze towards Chi Li. "Don't you think it's a little underhanded to use one's parents to threaten them?"
Chi Li first glanced at Jiang Qing'e, who was beside Li Luo, before slowly replying, "Li Luo, this is an internal matter of the Chi family. Why would you stick your hands into a matter involving a woman that has no relation to you? My family might be from the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent, but we are willing to build a good relationship with the Dragon's Fang Lineage. This sort of goodwill is something she cannot provide."
Li Luo then turned to look at Chi Chan briefly. This mentor who was once powerful enough to protect him now seemed powerless to him.
"In your view, Mentor Chi Chan's value is naturally incomparable to that of the entire Chi family. However..."
Li Luo then looked directly at Chi Li with a sharp gaze as he coldly declared, "In my eyes, the entire sum of the Chi family is not even worth a single finger of hers."
During House Luolan's Housemeet, Mentor Chi Chan had thrown away her position as a mentor of the Astral Sage College and single-handedly obstructed House Lanling. This sort of kindness was something that could not be easily measured in Li Luo's heart.
Chi Li's gaze turned gloomy. "It looks like you're willing to make an enemy out of me for her sake."
"Is it that strange to be your enemy?" Jiang Qing'e took a step forward.
Anger rose in Chi Li's eyes. It was obvious that Li Luo's and Jiang Qing'e's lack of respect towards him had infuriated him. He took a deep breath before icily replying, "Such a big temper. Do you think I'm afraid of you? This is the Celestial Mirror Pagoda, not the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li. Here, I have numerous methods to cause you trouble. Li Luo, weren't you interested in the Sand Seizing Battles? I assume you don't want to be challenged by a strong opponent, right?"
When Li Luo heard his words, he was taken aback before a look of joy appeared on his face. "You... you wish to have a Sand Seizing Battle?"
This reaction caused the edges of Chi Li's eyes to crease, and he smirked coldly. "What about it? Am I not able to?"
"Of course!" Li Luo excitedly replied. "I've got seventy grains of Celestial Mirror Sand, do you want to play?"
Chi Li's expression turned dazed. Even if he were to scrounge up all of the Celestial Mirror Sand he could, it would only amount to twenty grains. Meanwhile, Li Luo wanted to wager seventy grains?
Just what sort of crazy gambler was he?
"What? You can't produce seventy grains?" Li Luo seemed a little disappointed.
"Well, I can take a step back. Fifty grains will do."
Chi Li's expression sank. He couldn't obtain that much either!
Just as Chi Li was left in a slightly awkward position, a charming female laugh rang out. "Hehe, do you really think that no one can handle you in the Celestial Mirror Pagoda?"
When everyone raised their heads to see who it was, they saw Lu Ruyan making her way onto the platform with her entourage.
"What are you doing here, Lu Ruyan?" Lu Qing'er's expression turned icy.
Lu Ruyan gave a devilish smile. "If I didn't come, who would join Li Luo for a fight? What about it? Are you worried I'll break him?"
Li Luo was a little surprised as well. He hadn't expected Lu Ruyan to interfere.
Lu Ruyan then turned towards Chi Li. "Mentor Chi Li, shall our two squads join hands and challenge Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e to a Sand Seizing Battle?"
Lu Qing'er had sent people to deal with her before, and since there was an opportunity to take revenge, she would be sure to seize. Furthermore, if she could take Celestial Mirror Sand from Li Luo's hands, it would make her feel refreshed and elated.
Chi Li was a little taken aback, but he knew of Lu Ruyan and her background. He had always wanted to develop a better relationship with them but never had the right chance to do so. Who would have expected that they would take the initiative to work together?
He thus nodded and he smiled gracefully. "Since Young Mistress Ruyan is interested in this, I'll naturally acquiesce."
When Li Luo saw that the two had decided to work together, an amused smile appeared on his face. This reminded him of a particular saying.
Enemies often meet on a narrow path, but happy events come in pairs!
