Seven Sins System Chapter 375. Let's Bang And Create a Whole New Universe

"To a goddess?" she confirmed, seeking clarification.

I couldn't help but let out a sarcastic chuckle at her question. "To me, of course," I replied, lifting one eyebrow in amusement. "They were clearly talking about me," I added, my tone dripping with sarcasm. It was as plain as day—their prayers were directed at none other than the illustrious Lord of Wrath himself. Well, masquerading as me, at least.

Puriel nodded, digesting this information as she mulled over the implications. "So, what are you going to do now? What's your plan?" she inquired, her curiosity piqued. It was a valid question, considering we weren't exactly partners in crime. In fact, we were more like reluctant companions thrown together by circumstance. And honestly, most of my plans in this mission boiled down to "just go with the flow."

'I don't know. Why are you asking me?' That's what I wanted to say—give her a snarky response and move on. But instead, I opted for something a bit more... entertaining.

I shrugged nonchalantly, trying to play it cool. "Guess it'll just be another boring waiting game," I replied with a smirk, injecting a hint of sarcasm into my tone. "I know! Let's bang! Who knows it will be big enough to create a whole new universe," I added, throwing in a crappy joke for good measure. I chuckled at my own attempt at humor.

Puriel, however, didn't seem to share my amusement. Instead, she shot me a cold, unamused look that could rival the icy depths of cold hell. Seriously, it was like she was channeling the goddess of Patience herself.

"It's a mortal joke. Get it? Bing bang and universe," I tried to explain, grinning innocently. But she remained unmoved, her expression flat and unyielding.

I sighed inwardly, realizing that my attempt at levity had fallen flat. "Okay, tough crowd," I muttered under my breath, shifting uncomfortably under her gaze. It was clear that Puriel wasn't in the mood for jokes, mortal or otherwise.

I pressed my lips together, feeling my smile fade as I registered Puriel's unamused expression. 'Well, note to self: no more crappy jokes,' I grumbled internally, mentally kicking myself for even trying to lighten the mood with my questionable sense of humor. Mortal jokes weren't exactly my forte, but after spending so much time with the trio, I'd started to find them amusing.

'Guess that doesn't necessarily mean they're funny to everyone else, though.'

Puriel moved away from me and settled against the wall. I couldn't help but wonder if maybe I'd been spending too much time around mortals lately. Had their penchant for lame humor somehow rubbed off on me? It was a sobering thought, to say the least.

Finally, breaking the awkward silence, Puriel spoke up. "I assume you don't have any plans," she said, her tone tinged with a hint of curiosity.

I shook my head, a sigh escaping my lips. "Nah, not really," I admitted. "I didn't get any valuable information from their heads," I explained, gesturing vaguely in the direction of the now-departed kidnappers. "They're just the lowest of the cult hierarchy," I added.

It was true. Despite my attempts to glean some useful intel from the kidnappers' minds, all I'd managed to uncover was their lowly status within the cult. They were nothing more than small-time players, pawns in a much larger game. And as much as I hated to admit it, it seemed we were no closer to unraveling the mystery of the cult's true intentions.

Puriel's eyebrows shot up in surprise at my revelation. "Even the lowest in the hierarchy has those dark crystals?" she asked, her tone tinged with disbelief.

I nodded in response, confirming her suspicions. "Yeah," I affirmed with a sigh. "Their crystals are the lowest level," I explained, though truth be told, I wasn't entirely certain. It was just an educated guess based on what little information I'd managed to glean from their minds. Whatever the case, it was clear that these crystals played a significant role within the cult, serving as a marker of sorts for its members.

Puriel's curiosity seemed piqued by this new information. "So there are other types of crystals?" she inquired, her interest evident in her tone.

I nodded again, this time with more confidence. "Yeah, there are," I confirmed, leaning back against the wall. "This cult has been going on for quite a while after all," I added casually, as if the existence of different types of crystals was just another mundane fact of life.

Puriel's eyes widened as she processed my explanation. "Are you serious?" she asked incredulously, her disbelief evident in her voice.

I nodded solemnly, meeting her gaze with a serious expression. "I am not kidding," I affirmed, my tone resolute. "The cult has been around for hundreds of years, but the summoning thing and the crystals, they only came into existence recently. Maybe around the last two or three years," I explained, though I made sure to qualify that this information was based on what little I knew from their literature.

And I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration at our lack of concrete answers. There were so many unanswered questions swirling around this cult and its activities, and it was clear that we still had a long way to go before we could unravel the truth behind their nefarious schemes.

"Anyway, they might not come until tomorrow, go to sleep," I suggested. "And don't make any strange movements, they are watching us with CCTV," I warned her, my voice laced with caution.

With that, I closed my eyes and settled into a restless sleep.
