Their figures blurred across the battlefield, teleporting through space with deafening explosions trailing in their wake. Countless afterimages flickered like phantoms, making it appear as though thousands of Long Chens and Long Zaiyes were locked in battle.
This speed stunned the onlookers, sending chills down their spines. This wasn’t just a clash of strength—it was a display of power beyond comprehension.
“How terrifying…” an expert muttered hoarsely, swallowing hard.
He was the strongest heavenly genius of his sect. When he arrived and saw the four divine clans occupy the divine stele, he refused to accept it. Yet, their overwhelming lineup had kept him from daring to make a move.
He had resolved to challenge the top experts of the four divine clans eventually, but watching Long Zaiye’s battle extinguished that desire entirely.
Long Chen and Long Zaiye weren’t even using their full strength. Not even their bloodline power or heaven vein dragon qi had been unleashed. This was purely a contest of physical might. Yet, even this “basic” power of theirs eclipsed this expert’s peak strength by many folds.
The majority of those gathered here were monstrous geniuses sealed away from ancient times, chosen to awaken in a great era to display their light. However, witnessing this battle left even these titans of the past in despair.
If this had been a clash between experts merely one level above them, they might have gleaned insights or gained inspiration. But Long Chen and Long Zaiye moved with such speed and force that most couldn’t even track their movements. What could they possibly learn from a battle they couldn’t see?
The explosive sounds grew louder and more concentrated. Wild qi waves erupted like volcanic explosions, shaking the heavens.
“Long Chen really hid his true power very deeply. I completely misjudged him,” Jiang Yue’e admitted, her voice tinged with astonishment. While others couldn’t track the two of them, Jiang Yue’e could. However, what she saw left her utterly shocked. Each one of Long Chen’s movements flowed with perfect precision and natural grace, as though battle itself was his second nature. He resembled an invincible war god, his every motion radiating dominance.
The Long Chen she observed now was almost unrecognizable from the one she had encountered before. His usual frivolity was gone, replaced by the demeanor of a peerless warrior.
“I don’t think anyone can truly see through that fellow,” said Feng Fei with a bitter smile.
Suddenly, three deafening blasts echoed through the battlefield, and the chaotic qi waves subsided momentarily, replaced by a powerful shockwave that sent ripples through space itself. Everyone winced as a sharp pain radiated through their guts.
Long Zaiye’s voice rang out amidst the distorted air. “You really do have some power. You’re worthy of me taking this a bit more seriousl—”
Pow!
A figure was sent flying out of the twisted space. To everyone’s shock, it was Long Zaiye. They could see five vivid red fingerprints on his face.
Gasps erupted from the crowd. The previous handprint on his face had barely faded, yet another fresh one already appeared.
The unthinkable had happened: someone as powerful as Long Zaiye had been slapped across the face—twice. Had the world gone crazy? If Long Zaiye didn’t go crazy, they would go crazy in his place.
“This… this is worse than killing someone,” murmured an onlooker.
Feng Fei almost laughed aloud. “This Long Chen… his methods are downright wicked. Whoever crosses him is bound to suffer. That was pure genius.”
No matter how good someone’s temper was, they wouldn’t be able to endure this kind of humiliation. As expected, Long Zaiye seemed to go crazy. With blood-colored lines appearing in his eyes, he seemed like a provoked beast.
His killing intent erupted like a storm, altering the very atmosphere. It felt as though the world itself recoiled from his rage.
Long Chen then came to view. With his hands clasped behind his back, he said, “Why act like some bigshot? I, Long Chen, have swept through multiple worlds. From the mortal world to the immortal world, I’ve slain innumerable powerful enemies. My physical strength has never been bested in the same realm. Did you really think you’d be the exception?”
After throwing a deep sigh, Long Chen continued, “Your naivety astounds me. Just because our physical strength is closely matched, you thought your combat experience would suppress me? How naive. Though young, I have spent a lifetime either fighting or going toward my next battle. The blood staining my hands can turn the heavens red, and the enemies I’ve killed could fill the entire Heaven Vein Mystic Realm. So what if you’re from the primal chaos era? I don’t care about ancient legends. It’s just sad that you guys never got to see my arrogance.”
Long Chen’s words reverberated with such wild dominance that it shook the very souls of those who heard him. And with the handprints on Long Zaiye’s face as proof of his strength, his declaration carried even greater weight.
“Are you sure this fellow is the same person as before?” Jiang Yue’e asked, still in disbelief.
She thought back to when she and her subordinates had saved Long Chen and Mo Nian. Back then, they had seemed like frivolous second-rates, not true experts. Now, that memory felt surreal.
The other experts of the Jiang clan felt the same. They even felt like they were dreaming.
Long Zaiye’s enraged roar cut through her thoughts. “Are you provoking me to make me kill you in one blow?!”
The force of his roar caused some onlookers’ ears to bleed. Others fainted outright under the pressure of his killing intent.
Everyone was shocked by this. At this moment, Long Zaiye was on the verge of going crazy. But that was normal. No one would be able to endure this kind of humiliation.
Raising two fingers mockingly, Long Chen corrected, “First, I slapped you because your mouth was begging to be slapped. Second, you can’t beat me, let alone kill me in one blow. Stop pretending you’re more than you are.”
“You arrogant fool! Let’s see how long your mouth can stay so tough!” countered Long Zaiye.
With a roar, Long Zaiye’s arms erupted with power, and black qi enveloped his body. A heaven-shaking surge of Blood Qi erupted like a tsunami.
